Does Ford think we're Stupid? 315 horse? what the hell!

I love my car. That is coming from someone that always hated fords. The new mustangs are damn comfy, loaded with features, powerful, and nice to look at. The modular 4.6 is also very reliable. I believe it was one of the top 10 engines of the year for a few years in a row. Mustangs are the most...

Does Ford think we're Stupid? 315 horse? what the hell!

Some of you mustang owners act like you have sand in the vagina. Enjoy your old rustangs and I will enjoy my new one. Ford doesn't just build cars for internet fanboys. They have to thing about cost, market, profitability, emissions, and safety. Want to cry about only having a 15hp increase? Go...

are 356 miles on a new 08 Mustang from a dealer a lot?

When I test drove my 08, it had 17 miles on it. I would not accept 356 miles on a new car.

    question for ASE mechanics

I think I will stay off the vette forums.:nonono: Yeah, if wasting money makes people feel better, then who am I to tell them they are wrong. I just like to make sure people know they are wasting money on the early OCIs. People are really paranoid on oil forums as well, but they actually test...

    question for ASE mechanics

Break in procedure on a Subaru is different than Ford. This forum is very paranoid about oil. If you guys ever get worried or have doubts, get an oil analysis. PS, I just read through the Service Manual (full manual that the Service Technician's use) and it makes no mention of break in period...

    question for ASE mechanics

Yes. The filter should be sufficient to get any metal flakes out of the oil flow. I think the issue with new engines is the metal particles that stay in the pan. Most engines today don't require the oil change after 500 or 1000 miles. I have heard it from a former ford master tech that it isn't...

    05 GT STOCK EXHAUST

The stock exhaust is supposed to be SS. I would be taking it to the salvage yard if I got no bites through craigslist. It may be worth like $40 in scrap.

    OK which tune...

You guys are convincing me to get that bamachips tune asap. I already love the car. Why not have more power or better fuel economy?

    octane and oil thoughts..

Modern gasoline engines with proper filters are not likely to contaminate the oil so fast, unless there are internal problems. I recommend changing the filter every 5k - 7k miles, even if you don't change the oil. If you get a really decent oil filter, you can go longer. In the end, an oil...

    octane and oil thoughts..

Yeah, I read the wrong number. Good point. This shows that the oils are even more similar in viscosity.

    octane and oil thoughts..

I agree. I would use blackstone for personal oil tests for sure. It is the only way to really know what is going on inside your engine without tearing it apart.

    octane and oil thoughts..

Sounds like Ford is as bad as my company, since they often contradict themselves depending on what you read. I would say that 90% of the people on this forum drive the car hard enough to warrant the 5000 mile OCI. Personally, I will be changing to full synthetic on my first oil change and...

    octane and oil thoughts..

Under normal operation, OCI (oil change interval) for the mustang is 7500 miles. 5000 mile OCI is only under special conditions (racing, towing, or extended idling). See Ford mustang maintenance schedule 100-03-1 for all the fun details. WSS-M2C930-A is a standard that just states the specs...

    octane and oil thoughts..

The high mileage oil formulation for Mobil seems to be almost the same as their Clean 7500. The only difference is the high mileage formula has a higher MRV (Mini Rotary Viscometer test) rating. This test shows apparent sheer and viscosity at low temperatures. This would lead me to believe part...

    octane and oil thoughts..

OK, well I might not know anything about this subject, as I only research and write operational guidelines for engines. You first need to look at this from a manufacturers perspective. The lubrication specs are always determined based on a worst case scenario. You tell the customer to use an oil...

    octane and oil thoughts..

There is no difference of opinion. There is fact vs fiction, and the statement was meant to correct what was previously stated. I was not unfriendly. It was a silly thing for someone to say. If you take offense to that, then I am not sure what to say. Most of the forums I frequent are not so...

I have been reading for a while without posting. I just couldn't stand the misinformation. Post count means nothing anyways.:p

    octane and oil thoughts..

That is the silliest thing I have ever heard. The only effect using slightly higher viscosity oil will have on your engine is slight reduction in fuel economy and maybe 1 hp less power output.
