Hi, The frame side mounts are different on a V6. You need both frame mounts and engine mounts from a V8. I found out when I did a V6-V8 conversion 25 years ago. Also, the crossmember under the bellhousing has to be notched for the larger bellhousing. Better off with a Mustang II smaller...

problem solved I bought the newer type heads, with the fulcrum/pedestal setup. Found out that the stem lengths are different due to valve seat reconditioning. Thanks to all for your replies.:nice:

Are uneven valve stems acceptable on a reconditioned set of heads? I was surprised to find one of them has an exhaust valve 1/16" shorter than the intake valve. Seems like a lot to me, but I've heard of it before. Can anyone offer any advice? It's not a racing motor, so it won't see high r's...

I put an '84 HO motor in a '77 once..... and had two dipsticks. You can drill the HO cover, but it's thick right there. Fortunately, it's aluminum.

roll pin That roll pin doesn't go all the way through (I think), you just drive it in. That's why they give you a set screw with the new one. Been a long time, so I can't remember exactly.
