So, Start by turning one tooth to the left. and check timing?

So, mark the dizzy where it is, then turn the tooth each side one and see if that works? If I was to put cyl. 1 on TDC and then check the rotor, would that tell me if my dizzy is off a tooth? Any help would help, thanks!
