    Shock tower woes

As for replace or weld, my opinion is that welding is the choice IF a decent welder does the job. If done properly that can be made as strong or stronger than original. From the pictures, the metal looks to be in good shape except of course for the crack and a little bending. When you weld it...

Are there any major negatives with the early C4 trans?

The C4 is a good transmission and can be built to take loads of horsepower. There are a lot of aftermarket upgrade parts available. A lot of drag cars use the C4 because of this. IMO, the lack of overdrive is the only drawback to the C4.

    Fuel Injection vs Carba

I would think you could do that without even stroking the engine. You can also help the mileage out by installing an OD trans to lower cruising rpm.

    620 drop coils and alignment

The camber and toe will both change. The camber changes as the suspension moves through its travel range. The alignment specs are for tthe car sitting on level ground with the weight of the car on it. When you lower it, the suspension is in a different spot, so the camber will have changed...

    68 GT uneven rear

To check if the problem is in the front or the rear: 1. park the car on level ground, like in the garage. 2. Jack the front of the car up using a single floor jack under the front frame crossmember that is under the oil pan. Make sure the floor jack is right under the center of the...

    66 Coupe 302 vs 351W

Below is an example of how much room is gained for working on a 351W when you notch your shock towers. This cost me $14 for 3/16" steel plate to do this and took about 3 hours total.

    Cheap Rack-in-pinion conversion

The randall's rack is based on a J-car rack yes, but as soon as it is modified it is no longer a J-car rack and an off the shelf J-car rack won't work as a replacement. The rack body has a long narrow window in it under the bellows where the attachment of the centerlink travels. In order to...

    Cheap Rack-in-pinion conversion

From what I have been able to research, the Taurus rack will work, but you will lose a good amount of turning radius, much more than the J-car rack. Also, the distance between the two inner tie-rod ends on the Taurus rack is too far apart and will result in worse bump steer.

    Cheap Rack-in-pinion conversion

The randall's rack IS NOT THE SAME AS A J-CAR RACK. The attachment for the centerlink to the rack is on the back side of the rack on the randall's unit. On a J-car rack, the attachment is on the front side. BIG DIFFERENCE.

81 Bronco 351w donor block for 69 mustang?

The 81 block will work fine, but you may want to consider a newer roller block. Depends on if you want to run a roller cam or not. The non-roller block can run the expensive linked roller lifters and a standard base circle cam, but the price is pretty high for those. You can also install the...

    66 Coupe 302 vs 351W

The 351W is about 55 pounds heavier than a 302. That weight is mainly in the block and crank. The 351W weighs 530 lbs. The 302 weighs 475 lbs. All of these weights are for the long block with iron heads. 302 specs here 351W specs here Also, a 351 fits the bay without modifications...

    66 Coupe 302 vs 351W

Yep. A buddy has a 65 with a 351W and it has the stock hood. The previous poster that needed a new hood has a performer rpm air gar intake which sits kind of tall. It also depends what kind of air cleaner you have. There are low profile air cleaners that will help and that will still flow...

    floors pans

OK. I think I see. Does the shop you work with butt weld and grind so that the weld is not visible. If so, then yes that will take a lot longer than a lap weld. If you don't want the weld to show at all then I agree that the one-piece floor is best. However if the goal is to just get a...

    floors pans

No I don't. The welding of the tunnel was a fraction of the 5 hours per pan to do it. Probably took about 30-45 minutes per side to make that weld. Also, as I said it was my first time doing floor pans. I spent extra time fitting and making sure things fit right because I had never done them...

    floors pans

A WHOLE EXTRA DAY TO WELD THE TUNNEL!!!!! That's one slow welder. I put both my long pans in in about 10 hours and that included fitting the new pans, drilling for the spot welds, and completely welding them in. I know it was about 10 hours because I did one each on two evenings after work...

    66 Coupe 302 vs 351W

I always read about the stroker 302's and I can't comprehend why everyone wants to spend so much money to make a 302 bigger when it will still be smaller than a stock 351W. Why build a 347 from a 302 when you can spend the money you would have spent on stroking the 302 on good heads or intake...

    floors pans

Cutting out the whole floor removes a major portion of the structure of the car. If you go this route you have to make sure that you have the car leveled and supported before you remove the floor. Not a big deal. Doing the pans you can pretty much do one side at a time and what remains will...

    Cheap Rack-in-pinion conversion

I understand completely and I didn't take it as bashing at all. It was just an observation. I have given it some though and did consider reinforcing it a bit. I am an engineer, and was a machinist years ago, but this system is strictly "eyeball" engineered. My other option was to go with a...

    floors pans

If the driveshaft tunnel is good then leave it and replace the pans only. I would go ahead and do the full pans though. Edit: Oh yeah. When you do it you will have to pull the seat bases and you may want to consider shortening them especially if you are tall. An easy mod that will give you a...
