300HP? Thats It...Whats wrong with Ford

Perhaps the "reduced" amount of engine options is one of the big reasons Ford has been able to hold the bottom line so well with the '05 Mustang GT's price. It just seems to me that if there were a couple of higher powered V8 options available for the GT, the design work behind more camshaft...

2005 Mustang GT on the dyno

Good numbers! Looks like Ford has made sure to give us a STOUT 300 HORSES based upon the dyno's that are coming in and the track times we've been seeing.

    Whats up with C&D???

C&D will get no respect from me. When they first tested the new '05 Mustang they didn't even do instrumented testing; yet they had the short sightedness to ESTIMATE that the '05 Mustang GT would do a 14.0 to 14.5 second quarter mile. This was after MT had already tested the new '05 Automatic...

New Stang tops out at 143?

I do my speeding a 1/4 mile at a time; on the track. My top speed there is limited only by my budget.

300HP? Thats It...Whats wrong with Ford

The options are the same as they've always been. A high performance version of any model only went so far. If you wanted to take it further, there is the aftermarket and a HUGE one is already building to support the new Mustang. I think we're only a few short months away from seeing some...

300HP? Thats It...Whats wrong with Ford

What he said, plus: One thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that the current 300 horsepower rating is on pukey 87 Octane Fuel. Taking that into consideration, the power level is likely to achieve 350 horsepower or more once the engine parameters are adjusted for premium fuel.

    '04 SRT-4 vs. '05 GT

I think it's a good race stock; definitely not the type where the GT driver can sit there smug with the knowledge that his car can make up for his poor driving. The GT driver will have to be on the ball. The latest issue (January) of Motor Trend did test the 5-speed '05 GT at 13.5 and 103.6...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

Ford puts forged internals in where they're needed... '03/'04 Cobras: 4.6L 4v SuperCharged...Forged Crank, Rods and Pistons '03/'04 Mach I: 4.6L 4v Naturally Aspirated...Forged Crank

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I believe sales volume to have validity because Chrysler-Plymouth/Daimler-Chrysler, General Motors all had the same opportunity to offer models in their respective pony car lines that provided enough sales volume to subsidize the higher dollar, High Performance models and the losses incurred...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I could care less what type of post you like to see. The Mustang outsold the F bodies, will far outsell the Holden Heap and will probably be around when the replacement F-bodies again fade from the theater due to low sales volumes yet again.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I'm sure someone applied similar logic in attempting to explain why Harley-Davidson motorcycles wouldn't remain popular and a large volume seller  .
