Need Help With Drive Belt PLEASE?!?

Check the pulley just in front of where it's jumping, in the direction the belt rotates. See if that component isn't loose or if that pulley isn't warped or vibrating.

    Polished calipers

Someone has done that on here, hopefully they'll chime in. There are a couple of guys around here that did it and they do end up looking good, but they will dull up or oxidize quick if you don't somehow clearcoat them with some high-temp clearcoat.

Catalytic converter guts went into my catback

Don't cat guts normally get stuck in the grill or on the bumper??? Just kidding, I couldn't pass it up. With all the baffles inside a muffler I'm not surprised you can't blow it out. If you have a powerful shop vac, close off most of the tailpipe and somehow (tape maybe?) seal the vac hose to...

    pinging after headswap!!!

Colder sparkplug Dang I messed up...I should've put one heat range COLDER on the spark plug. Should've previewed before I submitted :( Guess that's what I get for posting right after the kids got home from school. I just looked at the package and they are truely one range colder. Sorry...

    pinging after headswap!!!

BLUF...bargain gas= pinging (for my car) Mine pings some from time to time, especially when my wife ignores me and puts some bargain gas in it. I have to run 93 after the tune, before I could get away with 91 octane from a major gas brand. I also run one heat range hotter spark plug, which...

    96, 4.6L misfiring

Have you made sure your plug wires are fully seated on both the plug and coil packs? Seen a corroded coil pack end cause a misfire, so check it for corrosion. Are they stock plug wires? Maybe you have a bud that'll let you try their good #3 and #4 plug wires? Hope it's not the coil packs...

    Do it yourself they say...pff

No MIL codes here either. But don't get in a hurry, especially moving the TPS from the old TB to the new one. Those screws can be a real patience test. There aren't many hoses/lines to remove, but if you have trouble remembering locations, use a digital camera and take a few pictures of the...

    Traction Bar? Non existant?

Oh the memories...traction bars (we called them slapper bars), Keystones, Cragar S/S and dare I say it...Holley 750 double pumpers, manual chokes. Need more fuel? Change the jets, metering block, float level? Remember if the car backfired, you'd be out buying a new accelerator pump? Ya...

The original springs can be tricky to remove. I always disassemble the spring compression tool and reassemble it inside the spring, plus I now use a 2 inch spacer just to get enough threads to pull the original (longer) springs out. Learned from four different spring replacements. Just like I...

    big block swap

How about putting a truck V-10 in it? It's based on the 5.4L hence the taller decklid and it comes out to nearly a 427. It's not really that bad a swap, the truck V-10 has mulitple motor mount places on the block and it will fit nicely between the shock towers. Enough have done it that there...

did anybody have tranny fluid inside their old shifter????????

That's fine...and you can fill it from there too, if you change your fluid at the same time. Just make sure you take out the sight plug only and have a friend under there to tell you when to stop filling it.

more hp with pi head swap than just stock pi's

I ended up with 249 hp three pull average at the rear wheels after the headswap. Mine prefers 93 octane gas too. The hp/tq didn't really come alive until after the chip was custom burned with all the bolt-ons and other "tweaks" done to it. It's worth the money, especially if you take the time...

    AAFES Price quote

Gotta love those child safety locks on the rear doors, listed on page 3. Interesting that they're planning on different rearend ratios based on the tranny choice. That AAFES buying service can be a good thing, many a fellow soldier has bought a Harley through them. Gotta stay safe over there!

How hard to install firewall adjuster?

No way, you can do it. If you're only installing the firewall adjuster, there's no need to go underneath, except underneath the dash to take the clutch cable loose. I went ahead and replaced my cable and quadrant as well. It's easy to put just an adjuster on, it should come with good...

    Ford "C" -springs?

They're specific rate springs (verses progressive rate springs) that will lower your car app. 1-1 1/2 inches. Some cut a coil or less off the rear springs because on some cars when these springs are put in the rear is higher than the front. These springs will cause the car to ride harsher...
