I rebuilt my 289 7 years ago and put a new cam and oil pump in it (amongst all the other parts)...this summer the cam failed and it was suggested that the high output pump was the issue. ..regardless I am faced with what do I need to change now? Someone said metal shavings were possible so...

Ok...update...New wires, cap and rotor. still pops....next I will put my Holley on it but IDK...the popping was louder on occasion... On the EB carb I understand what you are saying but I have had more issues with Holleys then EB's...funny how that goes.

I did go up one heat range when I changed the plugs... Let me define the popping...when you hold steady with no load it fires properly. When I rev it it mostly pops on the declining RPM but will sometime pop as soon as you hit the throttle. The poping can be as quite as crackling in the carb...

I have a 67 convert that I would like to put a console in. the car is a manual and I have a shift plate and I know I have to trim the plastic for it but my question is about the console trim...to install the shift plate does the camera case trim have to be modified? Thanks...
