wheel well up. What is the largest tire I can use in the rear of my 1997?

I have 18" rims with 255/45/18 tires. I want the largest (highest) tire I can use. My tire hight is 26" now I want to know if I can go say to 30" 31". I want to fill the wheel well up. Will 285/50/18 fit 29.2" (high) ?
