Difference in the mustang and explorer 5.0

Well, if you want to cam it, you'll need to upgrade your valve springs, and at that point, with over 100k on them, have them looked at to see if the guides and seats and everything are within spec. Also, youll want to do a timing chain and water pump while you're down there, have your intakes...

    1986 fox rebuild questions?

if I must reuse my harness, the wires are brittle in some spots and cracking, wouldn't it be best to just save the connectors and redo all the wiring at that point. but then that's a time consuming task and time is something im limited to. where would be the best place to get a new harness? and...

    1986 fox rebuild questions?

I'm rebuilding my 86 vert and i'm running into some issues. Before I decided to rebuild, the car ran like crap. I tore the motor apart and each piston was coated in carbon due to misfires and detonation... I assumed the pcm was bad due to getting wet. After that, wires started breaking in my...

EFI to carb or keep EFI?

Lol my only problem is that i need a wire harness which i will not buy 25 year old copper even if my life depended on me; a brand new harness costs about 600... i have a stock intake setup off my 86 along with all brand new sensors. I need to buy cats as i don't have any, and i will also need an...

EFI to carb or keep EFI?

I just bought an 88 coupe and i plan on making it a track car... Before anyone bashes, I want to explain that the EFI setup has been removed from the previous owner (Harness, ECU, upper and lower intakes and distributor) Since I want to make this a track car, I will be overhauling/ rebuilding...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

im in the process of rebuilding the motor... head gaskets were bad along with intake gaskets. you can resuse guide seals onces they are removed, so yes i got new seals. i got a 3 angle valve job for about 16 dollars at my school, they did a great job too. cylinder leak test showed to be good...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

a carb/intake/cleaner assy. runs about 480.... 600 with vac secondaries. Right now, the mustang has bad wiring problems (runs extremely rich, poor idle, bad hesitation, hard starting, misfire/backfire, etc). the wiring harness isnt in good shape (bad connectors, old cracked wires, stiff) and...

    ground/power issues

as a few people may know, my 86 has some problems. i recently found out i have a newer speed density engine (87-88) but have been tracking for problems since last december. ive been told i have ground and power issues and i think the best thing to do first is check all my grounds. does anyone...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

I've just been basing my search off of CL, not the best place in the world. I haven't checked local yards either. My biggest mistake was letting go of my 98 mountaineer, probably the best SUV i've been in IMO. I just don't like the P heads as the plug angle is straight and I would need to get...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

i dont have to rebuild them, just new guide seals and they cost less than any sensor. I can port and polish myself as i have the tools but its just a little time consuming. i cant find any gt40s under 250 around here in decent shape. rebuilding them would cost a bit as well. im not planning on...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

It is a HO 5.0... from what i can see it is off an 87, but looking behind the starter is a pain. It may sound dumb to many, but I took off the e7 heads and i'm in the process of rebuilding them as I don't feel like buying used gt40s and rebuilding those. so far so good, to me, I think these...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

my original plans were to swap to maf, but my wire harness is in such bad shape all corroded and stiff being that it's over 20 years old. also, most of my electrical connectors are broken and a lot of things have grounding issues. a new harness is about 600 with maf pigtail and the maf...

found out i have wrong engine!!!

i have an 86 mustang i bought last year, thinking everything was original. yesterday i decided to tear the engine apart to rebuild and prepare for a carb swap. when i took the heads off, i noticed the pistons arent the "true flat top" pistons they say the 86 mustang uses, so i flipped the heads...

    having trouble pulling codes

i also looked at the wiring and none of it seemed chewed up or melted, but i know thats not the case. also, i checked the oil level and again, its about 3/4 to an inch higher than it should be on the dip, and smells like gas. all the injectors are new and i highly doubt theyre all stuck open...
