Mach 1/Bullitt Shift Knob won't fit Triax

The easiest way i've found to the get the pattern to line up is to get a rubber O ring from home depot and put it between the boot and the knob. This allows you to squish the ring to get that nice tight feeling while being perfectly lined up.

Installed MM caster camber plates today *Pics*

I'd call MM on that one, but probably yes. They may be easy to clean up though. Is it actual chrome or powercoated chrome powdercoat?

Installed MM caster camber plates today *Pics*

Cotton, throw in some more Caster! That's why you paid for the CC plates. Right now your have them at full fwd, pull them to at least 1/2 back. When you go for an alignment, have the guy set them to 4.5 deg or so. Also, let the alignment guy know the tops can be switched for more camber. I...

Mach 1/Bullitt Shift Knob won't fit Triax

I have the Tri-ax and the Bullitt knob. What do you mean "doesn't fit"? As in it faces the wrong direction?

2005 Mustang or Subaru WRX STi

Here are my thoughts- I haven't driven an STi yet, but I hear it's a great car. Far better than the Evo. The STi has boy-racer styling, which to me isn't all that great. Styling is a personal thing though. It kinda depends on who you want to impress. Power is going to similar in both cars...

    School me on automotive helmets

You don't need an SA to drag race (I'm not talking rules, I'm talking function). The SA is 1) designed to take multiple impacts to a roll cage and 2) has a fire protectant layer. Both these features are almost useless in a stk car on a 1/4. An M helmet will protect you better against you...

    brakes for 99 GT

Yes. Cross drilled for bling and bling only. Slots are not recommended, but kinda ok. I would recommend the plain brembos. Get them zinc coated (I think chrome shops do this) if you are a clean freak ( you can also paint the unswept portion, I've seen mixed results). If you plan on doing an...

    brakes for 99 GT

Zinc rotors are for corrosion. Rotors are made out of iron, and rust almost immediately. Cobra setups have a lot of unswept area, that will rust, so the zinc plating keeps it looking clean. The zinc will wear off the swept are the second you touch your brakes. That's fine because the brake pads...

Just picked up some Cobra brakes for my GT

Since you have a 96, I think you'll need the caliper hardware kit - http://www.gefracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=G&Product_Code=M2321A&Category_Code=46BRAKES and hoses - either SS lines or Rubber. When hotstang says 4 bottles, he means the little ones. One...

Just picked up some Cobra brakes for my GT

If you take your car to open track events, yes. I'd save it for when you pull apart your rear end though. You need to pull the axles to install the brackets.

Front QA1 Struts blew... What do you think of the Bilsteins?

The only reason you'll have a knock is if they aren't tightened somewhere. Alot of people don't retighten after the set the car down. Ideally, you should jack up one side and tighten the compressed side, then switch. This will push the strut shaft as high as it can possibly go.

    Warped rotors or something else?

It doesn't take much, braking for from your foot is amplifed a lot. This likely isn't the problem. I'd check your suspension components out.

    Warped rotors or something else?

That sounds more like a suspension issue than a brake issue. Does the car react in any way when you turn hard left or right?

    Warped rotors or something else?

Brake pad material is SUPPOSED to attach itself to the rotor surface. The pad leaves a thin layer of film on the rotor surface. After driving on the track, I've left a very thick layer on the rotor, and I still had smooth braking. Problems can occur when you have dissimilar films (you put two...

    Warped rotors or something else?

It's probably not the rotors unless they're cracked. It could be a bad strut (bounce both sides of the car), an uneven deposit of pad substance on the rotor surface (did you change pads), or a bad bushing. Are you getting pedal feed back or just the steering wheel?

Caster Camber plates, 3-bolt vs 4-bolt. What's the difference?

4-bolts are a bit stonger, and better if you are doing Coil overs. 3 bolts are fine though. With Coilovers, a lot of stress is put on the strut bolt. With 3 bolt plates, all 3 bolts lie to one side of the Strut bolt. This is fine for stock spring locations, not good for CO. 4 bolts are also more...

    Racecraft Suspension

For the same $$$, you can get the MM sport box. http://www.maximummotorsports.com/giab.asp#sport This package includes better quality stuff than the Saleen kit. Most of the components are resuable as you grow. A few examples of how the MM kit is better: -Weld-in subframe connectors. These...

can you turn the 04 gt traction lock off?

I think you are confusing the "trac-lock" differental with "traction control". If you have Traction Control, you have a button. The Trac-lock is the differental. Every Mustang GT has it.

    c/c plates

Go for the Pro3i's. You may or may not need them, it's a good idea to get them to add Caster. Get the Maximum Motorsp plates if you only want to buy them once.
