Is there any way to test the leaf springs to see if they are worn? Looking at new leaf springs gives a pressure from 165 to 175 in/lbs. if there was a way to test them it would tell me if thats the problem instead of guessing.

The wheel opening width must be about 2 inches, right? Won't all wheels come in contact with the edge if the body drops far enough to contact the wheel? If the offset on the wheel is enough to put it inside the wheel lip, wouldn't it look terrible tucked 2 inches inside the back quarter opening...

I actually DO have air shocks on the car. Are they the problem? I thought it would be good to have air shocks to adjust the rear ride height. If air shocks are junk, what brand of shock would you recommend?

How can I tell if the cap I have is vented? Yes it is a new billet cap.

Does anyone think a really stiff shock would help? If so, any suggestions?

I didnt think the wheels rubbed, until I went over a large pothole. The wheels are 17 x 8, 4 1/2 backspacing. It happened twice while I was out driving the other day. I think I will try the bigger bump stop and see how that works. The rear end is a stock 65 Mustang.Thanks

When I twist the cap to take it off, there's a loud sound of pressure releasing. I think I'll go back to the thinner gasket. I just wondered if anyone else has seen this.

I have 17 x 8 wheels on my 65 Mustang. If I go over a hard bump the back tires rub on the inner lip of the rear quarter panel. The wheels are flush with the quarters, I suppose if I got smaller rims or had them tucked inside the quarters, the rubbing wouldn't happen. I like the way the wheels...

I also have the sheet metal divider behind the rear seat. I never thought about it, but I'm sure that does help stiffen things up a bit.

Has anyone installed subframe connectors on a 65 Mustang? I'm wondering if it really makes much of a difference in the way the car drives or handles. I'm also wondering which ones are best.I read the weld on ones are much better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

If you go with the 17x 7, you shouldn't have to make any changes to the fenders. I had to cut a small piece about an inch square off the lower edge to prevent rubbing. Nice rims, should look sweet when you get them on.

The wheels are 17 x 8. Thats a custom emergency brake, not all Mustangs are equipped with one like that!:rlaugh:
