    Fuel Carb advice

If I set my "true zero" mark to line up with the pointer, I can just trim the pointer back to line up with zero on the damper... Then I don't have to think about this BS. F$&@in cars

    Fuel Carb advice

Actually after thinking about it, the 3 degrees BTDC mark on the damper is truly 0 degrees. So my initial right now is 18, not 21. Make sense? Confusing...

    Fuel Carb advice

Advance is set at about 21 base, and way off the chart total... Today I found "true" TDC for the engine, and it's about 3 degrees advanced from the zero mark on the balancer. I have it set at 21 degrees actual base, and the centrifugal sends it way off into oblivion if you rev the engine. Not...

    Fuel Carb advice

Did a little tweaking today, it runs great for the most part. I've got everything I can get from the accelerator pump now and the bog is almost gone, but it still has a slight lag on hard accel. until the revs start coming up. Pulls great at higher RPM. I think I'm going to try a different...

    Fuel Carb advice

P.S. I said it was a 4150 series but I think it's actually a 4160. It doesn't have a secondary metering block, just the fixed plate type under the bowl

    Fuel Carb advice

So I got my new motor running today and it goes pretty good for the most part. It's a stock 94 shortblock with an E303 cam, Y303 heads, and an old Performer 289 intake, in an old fox with a T5 and 3.73's. The carb is a Holley 4150 series 600 CFM, vac secondaries. I rebuilt it last year and it...

Engine Question about old GT40y heads

Something else I just remembered... have to check with my friend but I’m almost positive that this engine had the old Performer heads on it, which had 2.02 valves, and it had this cam already. Don’t remember what it had for rockers but there were no marks on any of the pistons, (other than #7...

Engine Question about old GT40y heads

The stock pistons should be fine with the 1.6 rockers. Actually the Crane's are listed as being 1.72, so I should have about .082" clearance even with the 1.94 valves.

Engine Question about old GT40y heads

So I did a clearance check on this if anyone's interested. Again this is a stock 1994 short block with hypereutectic pistons, E303 cam, and the early GT-40Y aluminum heads, with 1.94" intake valves. I did the check with Crane/Cobra 1.7 rockers, and without a head gasket installed, my findings...

Engine Question about old GT40y heads

A long time ago I had an engine with a B cam on a stock lower end with iron 3 bar GT 40's and the same 1.7 Crane/Cobra rockers. That amounted to .510 lift vs .530 that I'll have with the E cam, but the E cam has a bit less duration. Also the iron heads had 1.84 intake valves vs 1.94 on the...

Engine Question about old GT40y heads

I know I should check it, but I figured a million people must have run this setup back in the day when these were considered good cylinder heads. Gotta be some consensus out there about whether it's a workable arrangement?

Engine Question about old GT40y heads

I've got a stock 94 shortblock with E303 cam. I'm putting on a set of the early aluminium gt40's with 1.94 intake valves and 1.7 rockers. Anyone ever run that setup? Just worried about piston to valve clearance.

    Budget 460 install

I have a 7.5 with a C6 from an 89 f250, and I want to put it in a 79 mustang. The 79 has a k member and 8.8 from an 89. I went down this road once before, but back then we spent the money for the right headers and motor mounts. I'm mainly wondering if anyone has tried this using the stock...

    Sportsman B50 Two Bolt Block

That's good to hear, my hope is that since it survived regular trips up to 7000 it should be happy staying at 6000. Ideally I'd love to build one from a Dart block but it's not in the cards.

Anyone Familiar With A Breakout Box?

The breakout box was a rudimentary way to diagnose circuit problems before the days of live data streaming. It tee'd into the PCM connector and gave you an easy way to connect into any circuit you wanted. I worked for Ford back then and we almost never used it because it was time consuming and...

    Sportsman B50 Two Bolt Block

Yeah I'm surprised too! The block looks great, but I did fnd some valve train issues and the cam bearings were pretty well pounded out, so in a way I'm glad I took it apart before I had bigger problems. I can see where there's a lot more meat in the caps and crank webs than a stock block, but...

    Sportsman B50 Two Bolt Block

Anyone running one of these? I'd like to hear what kind of power people have made with them. I have one bored and stroked to 333 ci, ( 3.25 x 4.040), running 15 psi. with a T-trim, just put the rotating assembly back together after burning up a piston. Think I burned it from running stale...

    Aftermarket Front End Questions

I was planning to sandblast and paint the k-member anyway, think I'm going to reinforce a few areas like the inner control arm mounts. The welds actually look pretty good to me, I suppose I'll be able to tell better after I sandblast it. As far as fitment it lines up perfectly with the eight...

    Aftermarket Front End Questions

I don't think anyone would argue that MM makes a superior product, however we don't all have deep pockets. This is basically a street strip car that I've had for twenty years, and recently decided to do some major work on a tight budget. I got a complete front end for $400, and the parts are...

    Aftermarket Front End Questions

A rep from MM contacted me and thinks these are Granatelli parts. Anyone using Granatelli control arms in a Fox? I have the Ford Motorsport Cobra brake kit in my car and I'm wondering if the Steeda X2 ball joints might fit.
