    LED Headlights

I forgot to mention the cons. One word... Cost. You could put your own kit together. Hella 7” glass housings can be found on Amazon and eBay for under $40 each and LED bulbs H4 style for little as $40 a pair. I cannot speak to the quality of the bulbs, but I’m sure you get what you pay for.

    LED Headlights

I upgraded my 64.5 just two weeks ago to the Mustang Project led package that uses Hella glass housings and Cree leds. The LEDs use an H4 plug, so no modifications are necessary. It was a simple swap that took all of 20 minutes in total. These are way brighter than the halogens I took out and...

    1964.5 Coupe tail light question

I have a 64.5 and virtually everything was original when I bought it. The tail light housing contains only one bulb socket. It sure sounds like the PO did some wacky mod for some reason. I would recommend that you replace the tail light housings and bring it back to stock.

    Power Steering Noise

Hi. I recently converted over from non-power steering to a Borgeson power steering system in my 64.5. Everything went well, until the Saginaw pump began to leak after about 6 months. They gave me a new pump and I installed it a couple of weeks back. Now I'm getting a "swishing" noise that I can...

    Removing lower control arm

Definitely try the heat, penetrating oil and impact wrench. I've broken one of those bolts once using a long makeshift breaker bar and it snapped the bolt. It was a pain to get the remainder of the bolt out.

    Cork versus Rubber Valve Gaskets

Well, I ordered the rubber gaskets from mustangs unlimited and I should have them in a couple of days. I'll try the high tack sealant. Happy New Year Jim

    Cork versus Rubber Valve Gaskets

Just so I understand, rubber gaskets DO NOT require gasket cement. Is that correct? Also, if I am to use cork, gasket cement should be used only on the gasket side facing the valve cover? Thanks, Jim

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

Here's a follow up to a post I put out there back in April 2010. I had some clutch chatter, even after replacing the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and flywheel. I was able to minimize the clutch chatter, but it never totally went away. Anyway, a couple of days back I replaced the...

    Cork versus Rubber Valve Gaskets

After removing my valve covers to repaint them, I put on a new set of cork gaskets and, after 3 months, they developed leaks. Granted, I bought the set for $5 at Carlisle. But, I thought they would have lasted longer. My last set lasted over a decade without so much as a drop of oil from...

    Cork versus Rubber Valve Gaskets

I've developed a leak on one of my valve covers, so I will be changing the gaskets soon. I see that there's the traditional cork gaskets and more modern (I assume) rubber gaskets. What are the advantages of rubber gaskets? They cost a bit more than cork, so I'm assuming that they seal...

    U-Joint Grease

I finally got around to swapping out my old rear u-joint today. I noticed I had some slop in the joint when installing a new exhaust several months back, so I picked up a new one. I was happy to see the u- joint came with a grease fitting, so I'll be sure to hit it with some grease from time...

Anyone got a Mustangs to fear headliner for coupes?

Cov3r, I've been hoping that someone would reply to your post. I'm interested in the product now that they have a headliner for the 65-66 coupes. Before I purchase one, I would like to hear from someone that has installed it already. Who wants to go first?

    It Stalls! Choke Issues?

Thanks chepsk8. I will check it out tonight. I have already checked the heat riser tube. It's just pressed in place on the manifold and then attaches to the choke housing. The choke plate closes, but not all the way. There's at least a 1/2" gap. Cuold that be the issue? I have the choke...

    It Stalls! Choke Issues?

I hear you on the rebuild. I rebuilt the carb a few months back as the car sat in the garage for 2 years. The carburetor was all gummed up and I couldn't get the car moving. I'll soak in carb cleaner and rebuild it again. I've got nothing to lose. As far as modifications go, I added a...

    It Stalls! Choke Issues?

Now that the colder weather is here (for some of us), I'm having a drivability issue with my 64.5. The car idles fine, but it stalls repeatedly when I come up on the clutch in first gear or reverse. I can barely get the car to move for the first 5 minutes. Once it's warmed up, no problem...

    289 Cam and Lifter advice

The 289 was the optional v8 in 1964. Just check measure the bore. 260's have a 3.80" bore, while 289's have a 4.00" bore. The stroke is the same, so crankshafts and rods are interchangeable.
