    I installed a brand new pilot bearing in my engine today. It's a Ford peice from D+D performance. The bearing will not go flush against the crank. It was a pain in the ass to get where it is now, and it won't go any further. It seems like it is as far as it can go. So tell me.. is this far...

    I think you must've broken loose some dirt/silt from the bottom of the fuel tank when you changed the pump. Then you had only 2 gallons of dirty gas and that 255 shot it right into the filter clogging it up. I diagnose problems after they get fixed. woo hoo

    It's great for making room around the headers. If you don't want to go through the hassle of removing ALL the equipment, just get a shorter belt, like 71-73 inches. Then cap off the thermactor pipe and remove all the hoses. It's not a big deal to leave the pump on since it weighs nil.

    Is my 331 a 347?

    I was looking at my DSS shortblock today and noticed that the cylinders were notched like that of a 347. Is it common practice for an engine builder like DSS to notch all their blocks so they can build them without worry? or is my 331 a 347?
