    Water pump bolts

Yeah, I was able to pry it out enough to see that both bolts are still in the block. I was able to drill one out (breaking the cover in the process.....) the other is still stuck. I'll have to get my long pry bar to get it out and get another timing cover. Anyone have one for sale? Was hoping to...

    Water pump bolts

Do any of them actually thread into the timing cover? I broke 2 of them off, both by the drivers side water passage. Pulling on the TC, the bottom bolt moves as if it either is loose enough or it's stuck in the cover. The other doesn't look like its budging at all. In other words, if I pry the...

So my coupe's dead... (long post)

Thanks for the info guys, been a while since I've had time to look at it but here's the latest: I put a pressure tester on the radiator cap and the leak seems to be coming from the back of the water pump. From what I gather, the slow dripping leak is usually a sign of a bad pump and the coolant...

So my coupe's dead... (long post)

You're right, upgrading as things broke was the original intent when I bought the car. Heads were next anyway since its got an e-cam w/ stock heads. Unfortunately, it (I) put me in a bad spot where I had to have transportation and I broke down and bought a new Lexus. Wife says I can't have 2...

So my coupe's dead... (long post)

Last week, started developing a "ticking" sound under fairly hard acceleration. Not the best description, but its the best I can do. I believe now it may be detonation? On my way to work, problem became constant and now car won't accelerate, only making the noise louder. I coasted to a...

    Alternator - A/C correlation

As always, great advice. I'll take a look tomorrow and see. I didn't notice any bare wires when I replaced the relay but will try wiggling them to see if it does anything.

    Alternator - A/C correlation

I replaced the WOT relay and have a full a/c charge. No leaks detected when I had the system serviced. The problem is that my a/c is hit or miss. Blows cold sometimes and warm others, as if the compressor stops running. Seems it starts to blow cold again when I rev through the gears coming from...

    Cobra Electric Fan

Ha, I thought you were talking about the car...it crossed my mind but I'm not giving up that easily. The only indication of year I see on the fan is a 4.6 sticker on the top, the only reason I say its from a Cobra is because that's what the PO said and I'm starting to see how reliable his info...

    Cobra Electric Fan

So it looks like it toasted the crappy switch he used. I knew it was going as it gets hot to the touch. How much amperage does one of those switches pull? I got a replacement for a temp fix. It's a 50 A max. I also got a 35 A in line fuse. Will this blow? Thanks.

    Cobra Electric Fan

So I see an emerging trend here, I'm going to spend all my time un-f-ing everything this kid did to the car before I bought it. I don't know how it's still running. It's got an electric fan out of a Cobra. Great upgrade right??? Only it's wired to a toggle switch on the dash. I know this needs...

    Smoke from steering column

I'm sure if I complained they would fix it, but I opted to get a replacement from Advance Auto for $10. Put it in and drove it to work tonight w/ no problems. Time will tell. The old module didn't show any (noticeable) signs of burning. Hopefully that does it. If not, I'll have to shell out $80...

    Smoke from steering column

Pulled all the trim off and everything looks ok. I figured I'd see some charred wire, but nothing that I could see. I ran the car for a few and turned on the blinkers and wipers hoping to replicate the problem but no luck. I'll probably just go get a new ignition switch and MF switch to keep on...

    Smoke from steering column

So I finally get one thing fixed only to have another problem. I'm driving today and turn on the wipers, within about a minute, smoke starts coming out of the steering column accompanied by a nice electrical burning smell. I turned the wipers off and it stopped pretty quickly. About 15 minutes...

    new clutch making noise-NEED HELP

Ok, so I got a mirror and flashlight under there and saw "Jegs" stamped right on the quadrant  Looked on the website and found the firewall adjustment directions. Couldn't be easier. No luck on the noise though, I'll do some research on the TO bearing now. Thanks for your patience guys...

    new clutch making noise-NEED HELP

Alright, I'm feeling a little retarded right now.... I read a tech article on how to adjust the cable, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. By pulling back on the clutch then pressing it in, I'm not getting a click or seeing any change. I tried to look under and manually set the adjustment...

    new clutch making noise-NEED HELP

Thanks RJ. The T5 is 6 months new, is the TO bearing something that would have been replaced with it or is it separate? Like I said, based on intermittent difficulty in shifting, and a very stiff clutch I think I need to adjust the cable but I wasn't sure if the noise was related. Thanks again...

    new clutch making noise-NEED HELP

Hissn - ran across this thread in a search because I'm having issues w/ difficult shifts also. The previous owner installed new T5, King Cobra clutch and flywheel 6 months ago, so I imagine it's just an adjustment issue. There is, however a "fast chirping" noise when I let off the clutch and it...

    Buying a foxbody

Man, I forgot to look at the ashtray door. Oh well. Overall, very clean for a 23 year old car. 103 on the original 5.0, runs very smooth. A little shake, but looks like a tune up could fix that? Some surface rust, but nothing that seems concerning, it all looks like just that - surface...
