    Valve guide seal replacement

Keep in mind that replacing the cams is a more involved procedure too. If you have bolt-on cam gears it's not as bad but if you have press fit gears then there's a whole lot more disassembly to be done to remove the cams - front cover and everything that entails, timing chains and related...

    Valve guide seal replacement

It was probably one solid days work from start to finish but I think I spread it out over a couple of days with a sick day in between. If I'd had a proper tool for inserting the retainer locks, it would've gone a good bit faster and if I'd been feeling better I probably wouldn't have struggled...

    Valve guide seal replacement

I did valve stem seals on mine a couple of years ago in my driveway with the motor in the car. It's doable but it is tedious and frustrating (mostly the putting the valve spring retainer locks back in). There's not much room to work in a few spots with A/C lines, master cylinders and strut...

I need confirmation that this transmission will work

It appears that all Mark VIII's (93+) and all modular MN12's (94+) all had the 4R70W. You might want to check over at tccoa as those guys are more likely to know about year-to-year 4R70W compatibility issues. If it really is an AOD-E then you might want to hit up some Panther boards as Crown...

    Recent Pics of Your Car

Those look good. Like the Bullitts and FR500s. My '96 coupe and a coworker's '07 GT 'vert. Sadly, the iPod's pictures are too grainy to see how awesomely shiny and deep the paint looks after the hours and hours I spent cleaning, polishing and waxing... uh, I mean, fortunately the iPod's...

Mach 460, aftermarket head unit, bass/lows not working correctly with aux cable

I must've misread your first post. If your having trouble with CDs too but the radio is OK then it sounds like something is wrong with the headunit itself. It's not a separate CD changer is it - the CD player is part of the headunit, right?

Mach 460, aftermarket head unit, bass/lows not working correctly with aux cable

I assume the iPod sounds normal when you listen to it with headphones - no static, solid bass? Is the volume on the iPod all the way up? Sounds like a bad cable, or possibly a bad jack to me. How does the aux cable connect to the head unit? Is it a built in cable, is there a 3.5mm jack on the...

    Intake Mani compatibility

PI= Performance Improved. Ford introduced new and improved 2V heads with matching intake for the Mustang 4.6L in 1999. Other vehicles, CV/GM/TC, trucks & SUVs, got them later on. The intakes were updated in 2002 with an aluminum coolant crossover replacing the crack-prone molded in plastic...

    Intake Mani compatibility

Yep. A Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car intake manifold is the same as the Mustang's. They didn't get PI heads until 2001 though so stay away from earlier years. 2002 and later should have the revised intake with the aluminum coolant crossover.

I feel like I'm getting bored of the mustang

Not me. I look forward to the sound of the 4.6 roaring to life in the morning and after work every afternoon, slipping it into gear and easing out into traffic and the anticipation of maybe today I'll get the on-ramp all to myself so I can wind it out a bit or maybe I'm not in a hurry to get...

Good Deal? 2000 Mustang GT Convertible, 63k miles, for $8,300?

I don't think there's a huge difference stock. They've both got h-pipes from the factory and very similar exhaust setups otherwise, they have the same displacement and neither has any radical camming or tuning going on so they're gonna sound fairly similar in your normal driving ranges. 4.6L mod...

Good Deal? 2000 Mustang GT Convertible, 63k miles, for $8,300?

Mach1 is coupe only and Cobra convertibles are going to be even more expensive than a GT, especially the Terminators, and there are a lot less of them to begin with - no Cobras in 2000 or 2002. If the OP wants a convertible then a GT is a perfectly reasonable choice if he doesn't want to spend...

Since I'm new here a few questions and a picture of my car

Yeah, try to keep it under 2k for economy, otherwise run it out to 6 grand all you want - you're not going to break it. For best acceleration you ought to be shifting around 5200~5300 RPMs on a 96-98 4.6L

Good Deal? 2000 Mustang GT Convertible, 63k miles, for $8,300?

Those prices seem high at first glance but are apparently in line with current blue book values. Used car prices seem to have been going up recently and SN95s in particular have been bouncing back (my old '96 is worth about a grand more now than it was a couple years ago!) and convertibles...

    Engine swap: Intake Manifold Compatibility??

Good memory trinity_gt. Yeah, 260+ HP in a <2000 lbs car is going to be plenty of power :D Lots of kit cars and replicas love using Fox-body drivelines so I thought the 5.0 HO might be a good reference point. If that kit is Mustang II based than it's harder to say - a carb & cleaner sitting...

Need some help with Interior Options!

Those short lived interiors might be your best sellers - some of those are the most distinctive styled seats and are more comfortable and supportive than the standard seats. I bet plenty of people would love to upgrade to Bullitt/Mach1 seats and especially '03/'04 Cobra seats - a foam and...

    Pics of my 97 GT

Looks great :nice: What's the story on that wagon? And what's that Lincoln-ish personal luxury coupe-ish looking thing hiding in the garage?

Need some help with Interior Options!

When you get around to doing cloth seats, I can send you some samples of grey tweed from an Opal Grey interiored '96 Mustang. To back up what puma1552 said, my rear covers at least were glued on to the foam and the foam was damaged in removing them. Unless there's a trick to getting them...

    Engine swap: Intake Manifold Compatibility??

Will a '87-'93 Mustang's 5.0L HO EFI fit in one of those replicas? If so I would think a 4.6L with a Mustang intake wouldn't be a problem height-wise. You wouldn't want the tall truck intake anyway, the Mustang intake is a better performance piece for a sports car. What about width? I assume...

Intake manifold swapped now rough idle

Does it run OK above idle? How long have you been driving it since the swap? The PCM may need to relearn the idle trims: Once it's warmed up to operating temp, let it idle for one minute with A/C off and the one minute with A/C on Simple Green shouldn't have hurt the injectors, assuming...
