How much HP can a stock 01 gt 2v hold???

The sound sometimes gives it away though ... :nonono:. Yep. As far as detonation, an engine will just as readily break at 300 rwhp. High hp with high rpm and stock rods is not a good mix either. I know of a few 500+ rwhp 2v stock shortblocks that survived for a good while, and one of them...

How much HP can a stock 01 gt 2v hold???

Well put. I would add that as far as keeping the engine intact, a good tune is one that does not detonate. A/F and timing settings need to be set accordingly and with a margin of safety.

    saleen or KB supercharger???

I don't think you're trying to paint a false picture but I don't see that you are aware of all the little things that account for the differences in track times. The reason those people are selling their centrifugals is because shops like MPH are excellent at promoting their cause ....and I...

    saleen or KB supercharger???

In addition to the mods you mentioned, did you upgrade your intercooling system? Also, your car was not initially faster with the KB to my recollection so I'm not sure how you calculated only 0.08 seconds increase for all the new mods. Also, what are the differences in weather conditions...

    saleen or KB supercharger???

Me insinuate? You added more mods to your car and didn't mention them when making a direct comparison. The mods definitely made the car faster. That much inferior Novi 2000 you had could have run 10 flat or high 9's too if it had been set up with equivalent additional mods and that is...

    saleen or KB supercharger???

Note that once the KB was installed there were additional mods that were not present when the Novi was in place. And for those who are not familiar with the differences between centrifugal (Novi) and twin screw (KB) superchargers, the psi number comparison is apples to oranges. The Novi...

MPH Mongoose Kit Or 1.7 Kenne bell N/I

Well put Gearbanger. It's comforting to know that not everybody's fallen victim to the blue pill syndrome  .

MPH Mongoose Kit Or 1.7 Kenne bell N/I

A good centri setup is no comparison to a 1.7 KB setup :p. It's neat how people process reality so differently.

    Procharger vs Vortech

98blackmagic is right about percentages instead of hard numbers. Also know that to get the most out of the S/C you'll need additional mods such as mid pipe, catback, MAF, and preferably an intercooler for safety as well as more power. For comparison, my 2000 GT Auto dynoe'd ~380 rwhp...

    tech question about superchargers

Any of the reputable blowers under normal use would last way beyond 20k miles. Maybe he's running the blower under some extreme conditions, or maybe he's suffering from some extreme condition ... psychologically :nonono:.

how long will a build block last under boost?

If your engine is healthy you don't need a built block to run 12psi on a centri. A built block allows you to run more rpms safely, and will hold up under more HP than a stock longlock at the same rpms. Running 12 psi on a centri or 9-10 psi on a KB, with an intercooler and safe tune would...

    Finalizing Engine Plans

If you're going to get "stage 2.5" heads then get cams to match them, i.e, to get optimal performance in your rpm range. As someone already suggested it would be wise to go to MPH for custom grinds. 4.10's will give you more torque to the ground, even though you'll lose some low end engine...

    Blower Cams

Well put. Also, as far as the differences in specs for N/A and blower cams.... Superchargers push an unnaturally high amount of air through the intake which allows much more fuel to be burned, and that produces more power. This increases the need for exhaust flow well beyond what stock...

    5spd to Auto???

Stock 4R70W's are quite strong although mis-use and abuse will break either type of trans. If I was getting an auto put in as a replacement it would be a built one though. In drag racing its easier to be consistent with an auto, so an auto can become more of an advantage than a preference...

    Comp Cams

If had the need for custom cams I'd let the pros do the specs. Companies like 'Motor Machine & Supply' in Tucson Arizona use a master software program to calculate the best cam events for an application. Computations are based on many top-notch profiles developed by several of the major cam...

    Tuned by the best!

We could go on and on with predictions about performance, but actual results have spoken volumes since the 4.6 2v KB's have come out. In reality there are pros and cons to each type of blower and I think you'll have a better appreciation for those differences when you actually experience them...

    Tuned by the best!

Some of those KB cars have shown an advantage in the 1/8 mile but don't think those cars are faster than centris in the 1/4 mile with an equivalant setup. Also, the fact that a car ran faster after the conversion does not mean that its former centri setup was optimal. That notion about KB's...

    Tuned by the best!

I think if this was the case GI Joe would have stated it that way :) . He's speaking from plenty of actual experience with both types of setups, which is not something most of us can do.

    Tuned by the best!

Killer, I'm taking your statement to mean you prefer KB's but not that you're saying they're superior. This makes me think of Dave GI Joe's comments (below in blue) when someone asked him about the differences between his Centri setup and the KB, both 600+ rwhp.... "At the track the K/B...

Here to make you auto guys feel better

It cost more money for those 16 extra valves as it would for a converter and valve body mods on the auto. Sounds to me like you're speaking about something you've not yet experienced .... i.e, a high stalled auto in a drag race . It matters not if you have a 2v or 4v engine, the difference...
