    pushrod length checker

You can take the retainer clip off of the hydraulic lifter, fill the lifter with some small washers and reassemble.

With the $$$ you're putting into that mill, don't scrimp on the balancer. Romac. :nice:

    I stand corrected then.

    Low dyno numbers

I would think a bigger cam would be a better match for the heads. Those are Vic Jr knockoffs with 2.05 valves and a lot of runner volume. Not sure of the cross section, but I'll guess it's same or close to the Vic Jr. Did you check the port alignment between the lower intake and the heads...

    best heads for the money?

If you average the flow (as reported on the respective websites) from .200 to .500lift of the AFR 185 and TW, there is less than 3 cfm difference. Here's something else to consider. Flow at .500: AFR 185 267 cfm. 267 / 2.23 = 119.7 cfm psi TW 251 cfm. 251 / 2.18 = 115.1 cfm psi...

    best heads for the money?

Port velocity is tied to the cross section of the port. Do you know the cross section of the TFS head? It's 2.18. How about the AFR 185 head? It's 2.23. A difference of .05. Or less than 3%. So how is it that the AFR 185 head is "too big" but the TW is ok? Just curious.

    Head gaskets

Most all head gaskets should be installed dry. When in doubt, follow the instructions from the gasket maker. Which one are you using?

    331 stroker kit

Good decision. :nice: I much prefer someone with Brians experience and reputation to an "order taker" at a catalog store. When tech advice is needed, it's nice to know you can reach out to an Engine Masters top three finisher (that's Brian) for some guidance. Good luck with your project.

ONLY 280HP OUT OF THIS COMBO!!!

Post up the dyno sheets. Most dyno sheets will show the a/f ratio at the bottom of the hp/tq graph.

ONLY 280HP OUT OF THIS COMBO!!!

If Ed says it's "way to lean", I'd be getting a tune ASAP. Lean is not a good way to be driving around.....especially way lean. I'd follow Ed's advice. Until you get the tune sorted out, you won't be able to determine what might be effecting the power output. Or lack of.

who makes the best crate engines?

I don't prefer crate engines, but if I had to buy one it would be from Brian at www.adperformance.com I purchased a SCAT 408 kit along with AFR 205 heads from him, so I've dealt with him on things other than crate engines. His team came in 3rd in the 2006 Engine Masters. Good pricing...

    351W Head Bolts

I don't know if any of these places actually have the bolts in stock, but they have them on their respective websites: http://racerwalsh.zoovy.com/category/ford_racing_parts/ http://wolfingham.com/ncmustang/mcart/index.cgi?code=3&page=6&cat=18...

    opinions on shifter quality......

That would be unbiased. And your post certainly doesn't come across as such to me. I recommended the MGW not because I work for them, but because I bought one and used it.
