New Personal Best at the 1/4 Mile Today!

Congrats Doc. What were your traps before? 106-107ish (IIRC)? If so, that's a damn nice gain there.

    Future competition for mustang

Did I misread this? http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=551305 Care to post where you're getting your facts from? I've never seen this agreement posted on the internet so I can't say for sure what the terms of the agreement were but I'd bet the same is true for you too. However, a...

    Future competition for mustang

First you said it was 2017, now it's 2010... GM owns the Camaro nameplate...not the CAW, not Quebec. GM/Chevrolet can use it on whatever they want and whenever they want. And what platform would this be? Just curious. Yeah, I hate that Chevy Charger...or is it a Pontiac? Hmm, that...

Yeah, about 41k for a base C5 (0 options)...add a few options and it wasn't hard to get one up to 45-46k, maybe even a little more. A pretty much loaded SS (coupe, not 'vert) could be had for around 29-30k, WS.6 for 31-32k and a Firehawk for 33-35k...so maybe it's more like 12-17k, depending...

There were a number of reasons why the F-body's production ended after '02...and yes, sales or lack thereof was one of those reasons (at least GM said it was). Guy McCoy, the guy who wrote that article, also posted on cz28.com that GM's agreement to build the F-twins at Ste. Therese was only...

The Mustang, V6's and GT's, were always (at least thru the 90's and up to '02) at least a couple grand cheaper than a similar V6 Camaro/Firebird or Z28/Formula/Trans Am. Probably more like 5-8k cheaper than a Formula or T/A. Mustangs were just more appealing to the general car buyer...and...

Going into the Air Force soon *help*

Same here...except SF tech school is only about 4 months. From what I've read/been told, you will be allowed to drive or have a personal vehicle at about phase 3 of tech school (which is about 2 months or so for me). I'll be in tech school at Christmas time and I know they'll let you go home for...

Porsche 996 Turbo goes down at 1/8!

A stock '03-'04 Cobra shouldn't have too much trouble with Doc (with a good driver)...no offense Doc. And yes, the GTO comes standard with an A4...but the auto's also have a $1300 or so gas-guzzler tax. The M6 is like a $600-700 option but no gas-guzzler tax. Nice kill... :nice:

    How fast are you???

Yep, LS1tech.com would be a good place to go...or google search for GMHTP + 12.89 + 1999 Z28 or GMHTP + 12.96 + 2001 SS. I have the issue somewhere with the SS but no scanner and GMHTP doesn't seem to have it up on their site (it is 3-4 years old). I did find the Cobra vs SS article in MM&FF...

Sarcasm maybe? Least I thought so...however if it wasn't... :rlaugh:

    How fast are you???

GM didn't make them equal in performance...1/4 mile will be close but everything else goes to the Corvette. They also rated the Z28 40hp less than the Vette and the SS 25hp less. I dunno if it was intentional or not...but fact is the LS1 F-bodies and LS1 Corvettes made very similar hp/tq...at...

    How fast are you???

 Way back GMHTP ran a 12.89 in bone stock '99 Z28, couple years later they ran a 12.96 in a bone stock '01 SS. If the SS would've ran in the same conditions as the Z28...I don't doubt that it would've ran a very low 12.8 or even a 12.7. I have no trouble believing those...

    STUPID QUESTION: When redesign?

I believe MT said '08, which sounds about right...but I guess it could be as early as '07 or possibly as late as '09. Not a big difference, probably just some minor changes to the front clip and rear...and maybe a couple interior changes. *I dunno about any special editions like a Bullitt, Mach...

    Camaro

Yeah, Kris did a great job on that. And...I do believe he did go for an interview (or something) with GM not too long ago. I don't know what happened after that though...he's probably working on the 5th gen right now, just can't talk about it or else the black Suburban's will show up outside...

    Why 4.6?

With all the sales and success talk...I hope you work for Ford or own FoMoCo stock. No doubt the Mustang sells extremely well...almost too well if you're Ford (trying to keep up with demand)...but as I'm sure you already know, 6cyl's dominate the Mustang sales, not the 4.6. We'll see if Ford...

    Why 4.6?

Did they all come with a T56 behind them? As I said earlier, the 4L60E's (depends a little on 2.73s or 3.23s) were rated just slightly less mileage than with the T56...no CAGS, no tall 6th.

    Why 4.6?

EPA rating... City: 19 Hwy: 28 I believe the A4 was slightly less, like 18 city and 25-26 hwy. I agree, part of the "formula" didn't work...they simply didn't sell enough to warrant their own plant. If the F platform was shared by other cars or if the Camaro/Firebird were built on a...

Mach 1 Newbie here a few Questions about my Mach 1

Maybe you should take some of your own advice. The '97s still had the LT1 (save for very few with the LT4), Z28 was rated at 285/325 and the SS was 305/335. '98-'00 Z28 was rated at 305/335...SS was 320/345. '01-'02 Z28 was rated at 310/340...SS was 325/350. No such thing as a WS.6...

    I Was Owned By Ls1

You're right, it's not possible...just an example here, stock '99-'04 GTs and LT1 F-bodies are both good for right around 100mph traps and quite a few do cut 2.0 60' times...but neither will run even close to 12s stock. I'd say for a stock LS1 F-body to run 12s on a 2.0 60'...they'd probably...
