I guess I should have made the subject of this post "Drivetrain." If the 8.8 is pretty good with those upgrades, what becomes the next weak link? U-joints and driveshaft of the transmission? Just for the record I searched, but there were way too many results to sift through.

I dont know jack about rearends. Well, maybe a little, but do you have to have the special tools to replace the carrier? Ford's Trac-Lok is a carrier right? And so is a Detroit locker? I know that might sound dumb but I am just making sure that a carrier is what I am thinking it is.

Are the 8.8's a pretty good rearend? I guess it might be better than the 10 bolt in the F-cars but how much can they take? When I get my Mustang I want to be prepared. Can the rear end take launching on slicks? I'd like to get the MSD two step and a set of slicks but I was just wondering...

Actually I really like the 96-98 body style. The only problems I can see with those is difficulty getting a loan on such an old vehicle (is it even possible?) and finding one with low enough mileage.

I forgot to mention $10k or less. Can you get a 99 or 01 Cobra for that?

Yeah I definitely want a good built auto this time around. I hated how my T5 shifted, but that could have just been a bad apple.
