1999 Gt 0.250a Parasitic Draw From Gem Module/radio

Subscribing... My dome light does not function. Traced the circuitry to the GEM. Fuse #7 blows , immediately. I swapped out the GEM module with a used one. Fuse no longer blew, but car would not start. I did take the "new" GEM apart, and immediately saw that there are no user serviceable parts...

Engine 130k Mile Car, Intake Manifold Failure, And The Future Of This Vehicle.

Overall, my 99 GT hasa been reliable (owned since new) . I did enter "failure mode" when I had to have it sit for a few months. The fuel pump died. The MAF sensor croaked. As far as the internal engine stuff, i don't worry , since I change filters and oil regularly. The clutch is holding up...

2002 Gt - Time For Tune Up

Well, I've had lots of "luck" with a proper gasket scraper tool, and some razor blades, and some "elbow grease". You may want to consider sending your injectors to a place like http://www.injectorrx.com Finally, I don't have any confidence with MAF cleaning, even with the "right stuff". You...

Fuel Sn95 Mustangs Sitting And Fuel Pump Death ?

Finally got around to taking a "post mortem" pic of the old fuel pump. Here is what it looked like after 14 years and 124K miles. I was really pro-active into replacing fuel filters, BTW. The tank's insides were "pristine". New filler neck grommet installed as well. Now I understand what...

Fuel Sn95 Mustangs Sitting And Fuel Pump Death ?

OOK, while I liked your post, I still don't like the "whiskey" they are contaminating fuel with. I have an older , non-Ford muscle car, and I have gone through 3 mechanical fuel pumps due to the ethanol destroying the diaphragms. And now, the destruction of a fuel-injected Mustang/ Enough ! Pay...

    03 Fuel Related Issue

Please see the thread I started about SN95 Mustangs and fuel pump death. Not right for fuel pumps to fail after sitting for a few months. I won't blame Ford. Rather, I blame the insane requirement for ethanol in the gas. A sop to the corn farmers in the midwest. They expend more energy growing...

Fuel Sn95 Mustangs Sitting And Fuel Pump Death ?

I have a '99 Mustang GT that I've owned since new (124K on the clock). I have it sitting in a garage now, with 1/4 tank of "fuel". If you can call the "fuel" sold nowadays as fuel rather than "corn likker". But I digress. While researching several DTC codes (mostly my fault), I noticed many...

Help Needed - Slight Vacuum Leak

When I changed out my intake manifold, I caused a massive leak in the hose leading from the throttle body to the vacuum hose connection down at the rear of the passenger side valve cover. That vacuum hose gets a bit "flaky". Just trying to help.

    Engine Intake gaskets

Dorman intakes have the O-ring seals molded in. My directions stated not to use intake gaskets (yeah, I bought a Dorman, duh, next time Ford OEM). IIRC, I had to do a careful 3-stage torque procedure, following the Dorman instructions. I used a "torque beam" torque wrench rather than a...

How To Wake Up An Old Gt?

Owned my 'Stang since new. When my intake cracked, I went ahead and had my fuel injectors tested/cleaned. Recently, I had a COP go haywire, so I replaced them all. Car runs very smoothly. I've learned that the COPs typically won't "throw a code" until they are toast, but that doesn't mean they...

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

Thanks for the reply. That's a valid point about the PCV valve ; I did change it a while back, though. Here is an UPDATE: I found the huge vacuum leak. A vacuum hose runs from the rear of the throttle body and makes a junction with another hose on the passenger side valve cover (down, and to...

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

Thanks to all who replied !! This is why Stangnet is a cool site. Now, here is a pic of my (formerly) trusty intake. You can see (sorry I had to shrink the image for this site, of course) The squared off interface for the injectors. On the Dorman piece (and I'll leave it at that), the...

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

Well, you know, I like Summit's website - pretty good aite. But the two only intakes they had listed for the 4.6L were for the 96-98, and the 99-04 (PI) Maybe disco'd by Ford ?

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

The car will barely idle - acts like an old-skool muscle car with a huge cam. Doesn't want to idle more than 500 RPM even when cold. Will die w/o throttle input. All vacuum tubes rebuilt/thoroughly checked. IAC checked/cleaned. New plugs (NGK TR55s) Spools up nicely, though, when I romp on the...

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

C'mon - I'm out a few hundred bucks (plus my labor) so , it looks like I'm down due to crappola parts ? Doomed ? Somebody else may have some constructive comments ? Thanks for the reply, though.

Oops- Should read fuel rail fasteners.

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

Thanks for the reply. I used 24 Nm torque on the fuel fasteners. Did you have to really "reef" on them ?

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

Aha, Mr Burns.. I used the injector service you recommended (InjectorRX in Houston, TX - a very good service BTW) Yes, I lubed the "o-rings". The difference between the Dorman injector cavities and the stock injector cavities is vast.I wonder how the injectors can possibly seal. It also makes...

Dorman replacement PI intake manifold comments ?

OK - I'll pull the plenum and re-install. Did you have a Dorman intake with the "molded-in" plenum gasket, or the stock setup ? just curious.
