    There's also a timeslip from a 2004 GTO that ran 13.186 with a 2.0 60' time. With a better launch, that is nearly a 12 second car. And that is the "old" GTO. The "new" GTO gets another 50-hp and 30-tq beyond the 2004s. So do not compare the "best" Mustang GT times with "so-so" GTO times. :)

    What is the best transmission for the 05?

    Assuming 1) the gearing is the same and 2) the auto will actually shift okay. With torque management and modern electronics, it is very possible that the auto is going to shift like grandma to save drivetrain wear and tear. Assuming the auto actually does shift good, my money is on the auto.
