Wired backwards? Engine coolant temp sensor... please help 1986 5.0

@Phdiesel Calling the action of the sensor "NTC" was literally the only thing you got right. Everything else you rambled on about was wrong. It's literally a temperature sensitive resistor, so you're wrong. You can wire it either way and the ecu will get the correct reading, so you're wrong...

Wired backwards? Engine coolant temp sensor... please help 1986 5.0

@Phdiesel And just because I'm in a the mood to drive home how wrong you are because of the way you are addressing some very well known, knowledgeable, and respected members, here is a little real world test to drive the point home. Took my 2 minutes in my garage. So here is the exact sensor...

Wired backwards? Engine coolant temp sensor... please help 1986 5.0

You're wrong, but you're allowed to believe whatever you want. Us guys have worked with and replaced these sensors for years and know how they actually work. If you know how the eec-iv works (or most any other ecu or control system) you'd also understand this. But to each their own, enjoy!

Wired backwards? Engine coolant temp sensor... please help 1986 5.0

@Phdiesel Ummmm, what a rant dude. You're not going to get much help around here acting like, but what the heck, let me try to help explain this to you. BTW, what @Mustang5L5 said is absolutely correct, you can wire it either way. Since you seem to want specifics, it's technically called a...

    Another turbo AWD Ford

Nothing wrong with a gas Super Duty, I wasn't going to buy another diesel back when I bought this truck, but it came up for a good price and I couldn't resist. My next one will probably be a 7.3 gas to get away from all the diesel emissions/cost/ect. My buddy had one of the turbo MR2's, they...

    Another turbo AWD Ford

Turbo vehicles are fun to drive to me and I've definitely had my fair share already. Only turbo vehicle I own right now is my 6.7 Super duty, but I ordered one of those new Ford Maverick's last week with the 2.0 EB and am curious to see how that thing performs. Last 2.0T engine I messed with...

No cats (dealership f*cked me )

If I was in your situation, I would order a set of adjustable anti-foulers and see if you can get your current setup to work. The ultimate fix is to reinstall the cats, but I would be trying the easy fix first. Vibrant has an adjustable that come with 3 orifice discs. There might be others.

No cats (dealership f*cked me )

Understood, probably a P0420 and P0430, but want to be sure. If those are the only codes you are getting (and getting both of them), then you're probably going to have to get some different length, or adjustable, spark plug non-foulers to try to trick the rear 02's into believing your cats are...

Did you scan the code(s) to see what it is?

What Is Wrong With This Picture ???

No problem, one of the benefits of working from home. I either get a run in or wrench in the garage over my lunch break. I figured it might be tight for you to get that measurement with everything in, but didn't see anything better to measure off of. Thanks! Gotta keep working on it and get...

What Is Wrong With This Picture ???

I can tell you that the measurement from the middle of the rear mounting boss on the driver side of the engine, to the firewall right beside the reinforcement plate is exactly 11 inches on my setup (Measuring from the top of the mount). I would assume your engine mounts would be very close, if...

What Is Wrong With This Picture ???

Def. looks like those mounts are reversed. You are correct, the stud on the engine mount on both sides is supposed to be in the front slot, and the "pad" of the mount is suppose to sit on the k-member. Yours is in the rear slot and is flipped around, so the pad is overhanging the front of the...

Progress Thread Darn Stock Block Problems - Getting the Engine Together

It's in! Been looking at ordering headers while I get the valve cover and front plate setup worked out. I've decided I want a long-tube header with 1 7/8" primaries, a 3" collector, and ceramic coating for this combo. No slip fits. I've been endlessly searching for recommendations on...

Help with matching Aussie heads with EFI intake

What intake gasket are you running? 1262, 1262R? And are the port openings 2.25" x 1.75" like you said in your first post, or 2.25 x 1.25? Not knowing anything else about your combo or goals, a couple off the shelf EFI intakes that come close to your port size would be a Trick Flow Box EFI...

Fox Hood flew up while driving.

Ouch, that sucks. You're def. not the first person to have that happen to them though. Do a search on this site, there are a couple posts that I can remember guys having the same thing happen and going through the repair process. I know some have had some luck with the football method.

Progress Thread Darn Stock Block Problems - Getting the Engine Together

That's one of the designs I looked at for some inspiration, as well as the S550 design. There was another guy over on the corral that added a HD spring tensioner to his YSI setup and got really good results from it. I ended up buying the same tensioner he used, which is from a mid-2000's...

Progress Thread Darn Stock Block Problems - Getting the Engine Together

First use of the lift place went well and it's really nice having the multiple mounting holes to balance the engine. Excited about getting my flex plate and spacer installed as that's a big milestone for me, means I can look at setting the engine in the car soon to continue with mock up. It's...

Progress Thread Darn Stock Block Problems - Getting the Engine Together

Ended up buying and receiving the Primeweld. I've only run it a couple times on steel and so far I am impressed. I'm not a seasoned TIG welder by any means, but I think I might be able to do some nice work with this machine. My old machine made me think I would never get the hang of TIG, this...

Long Tubes Worth it for my build?

Was just curious if we were withholding his name and business name from the thread for some reason. The conversation seemed a little cryptic. Thanks!
