Help me speed up my virgin

First thing to do GEARS...Then go on to other mods. When I first bought my '86 I pulled the silencer then got a 2.5" o/r h-pipe and Flowmaster cat-back. Then did other minor things. The exhaust didn't seem to make that much of a difference but then again you got the better E7 heads on there...

    Correct black for side mirrors???

I had success with a product made by Plastikote: Semi-gloss black flexible bumper and trim paint. I used it all around my car's mouldings, around headlights(4-eye), door frame, and mirrors. Sprayed about 2 good coats and it came out pretty good and has lasted over a year including a blizzard.

    Compression test results...

Yeah, I had just recently changed the oil and put in the 20w-50. You think it's bad on the the engine? I had been runnin' 10w-30 for almost the past 2 years. As for the compression, would worn out valve seals give me lower compression? The car does smoke a little bit and burns some oil but...

    Compression test results...

I did it after comin home from class which was a 25 mile drive so the engine was nice and warm. Just recently did an oil change to 20W-50. Here are the results: (btw I recorded after each crank and did it 5x, averaging out all the #'s) '86 5.0 with 135,000mi. on it. Cyl # Comp. 1...

Spend $5,000 to modify this car...

Oh forgot to mention as far as cams go I can't mention any off the top of my head but you'll be limited to cam choices if you stay with the Speed Density system that's on the car. If you convert to Mass Air then you can broaden the choices.

Spend $5,000 to modify this car...

You can get a nice gain outta E7 heads which came on 87-95 Mustangs and also Broncos and F-150's(not sure which years). Remember the '86 shortblock has FLAT TOP pistons, with no notches for valve reliefs so you must measure piston-valve clearance before doin ANY headswap. People say GT-40's...

Question about pcv screen in intake

How did you pull it out? I remember tryin to get it out once but didn't have any pliers that would reach there. I got big hands too so it's hard to get down there. Ford's great idea of a Positive Crankcase Ventilation system.

Question about pcv screen in intake

I had allready replaced the PCV valve on my car a while back. But noticed that the screen was pretty dirty. For some reason before I had looked at it, the PCV was disconnected at the lower intake, hence the reason why that screen got all lumped up with crap. Have no clue why/how long it was...

    Exhaust question

Get an offroad Hpipe, you won't be disappointed. I had a 2.5" offroad Hpipe and American Thunder Flowmaster cat-back(2-chambered muff's). This setup sounded mean and you could here me comin from the other side of town. Too bad I sold that setup (kickin myself in the ass). And fyi I did have...

    460 in a fox?

They say the 460 has very similar dimensions to the modular 4.6. I haven't seen too many pics of 460's in a 79-93 fox but have seen what the 4.6 looks like in there and it's a pretty tight fit. All in all, a 460 c.i. + Foxbody(79-93) = BADASS

Just switched to Dynomax race bullets, WOW.

How much did they modify your tails to fit?? I've looked up the Bullets on Summit and they seem much shorter than other mufflers. Most likely need to weld an extension of some sort to the tailpipe-to-muffer part. My tails are from my old Flowmaster cat-back and those mufflers were pretty...

Just switched to Dynomax race bullets, WOW.

Anyone run these Race Bullets with tails? I'm interested in replacing the replacement "turbo" muffler shop mufflers on my car and like the way the Bullets sound even with the stock Hpipe(mustangexhaust.com). I have an '86 GT and have the current system dumped but wanna put my 2.5" tailpipes I...

    Supercharging stock?

As long as you got good compression and the longblock is healthy I wouldn't see it being a problem. The basic 5-6psi SC's are designed for stock applications. But you'd have to upgrade the fuel system, that's for sure. Bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump like a 190lph unit. A free flowing...

    Cars with fact temp guage?

Mine stays around 1/3 of the way. Never reaches the 1/2 mark. But I do have a 18" Flex fan/2" spacer and a 180* T-stat in there. In general the stock gauges aren't that accurate but just givin you an idea.

Can I modify tailpipes to fit? Please read

They're not SS tips. They're aluminized but I rubbed some Wenol on the tips to make them shiney. Anyways I think that's what I'm gonna do. Take it to an exhaust shop to bend it. Shouldn't cost much anyways. Now what I gotta do is find a place like Meineke or Midas or something. Thanks Foot.

Can I modify tailpipes to fit? Please read

I gave up on installing my tailpipes. They're 2.5" tails from a previous Flowmaster cat-back. I got some unknown replacement mufflers that were on the car when I bought it. They look to be stainless. Anyway, I've tried installing these damn tails with no avail. These mufflers are...

    .060 overheating problems

How hot does it get? Stock gauge? I don't know if it would make a drastic change but I think the 18" Flex Fan/2" spacer is the correct application for a 5.0 Mustang. That's what I have. And I have measured the stock plastic fan in comparison and it was 18" as well. How is the stock...

I think my Trac-lok has had it

That's a bit pricey especially for me. IMO it's just not worth it to spend that much money on the rear end of my car. I can't do anything now cause I'm broke and in school. LOL My car's got some miles on it and I don't plan on doing anything to the engine anytime soon. I was leaning towards...
