Header size for AFR 205 heads

I think it's going to be between 150-200. Would it be better to use a step header instead?

Header size for AFR 205 heads

The combo will most likely be a nitrous sniffing 408W. A friend of mine is in the process of building one and was curious about the header size. It looks like Kook's headers are about the only option. I know Hooker has a set of 2" primarys which sounds a little too big.

Header size for AFR 205 heads

I was wondering what size headers to get. Can I use a 1 3/4 or do I need to use 1 7/8 primarys? I don't want to use the 1 3/4 if they're going to be a little too small.

    PT-88 turbocharged 331 or 408?

I wasn't aware of a TKO 750 or 900. I'll keep that in mind. On compression for any motor I decide, I was still wanting a low compression piston since I'd like to be able to turn up the boost safely and still run on 93 pump gas. Streetability is the key factor in my build so I'm not trying to...

    PT-88 turbocharged 331 or 408?

4.2 is quite a bore. Though I'd be afraid to push something that far since I'm trying to keep longetivity into the equation.

    PT-88 turbocharged 331 or 408?

Instead of the 408, how about something like a 393? On the big bore 347 you mentioned, is that the maximum bore the Dart block allows?

    PT-88 turbocharged 331 or 408?

A buddy of mine is stating that I should go ahead and build a 408 for my turbo setup. My original plan is a 331. Both combos will be using a TKO-600 and aftermarket blocks. Help me decide! Also, what's the limit of a stock (let's say 1990) 351W block with a girdle and etc.?

    331 with AFR 205's

That is a heavy block. At least I wouldn't question the strength of it.:D

    331 with AFR 205's

Any opinions on my last question? R302 or Dart Sportsman?

    331 with AFR 205's

I guess the last thing question to ask is which would everyone prefer? R302 or Dart Sportsman?

how many miles will a nitto dr last in a dd??

I had some BFG DR's and they only lasted about 2k for me. :nonono: I'll just stick with my ET Streets since always do good for me. Of course, rain is another story!:nice:

    331 with AFR 205's

Other than cooling issues, do the heads have to have any special work done to the water passages or etc.? Forgive my newbie questions, but I'm not too familiar with siamese blocks. Also, where's a good place to order a Dart Sportsman or R302? The best price I've found on the Dart was $1800...

Ticking goes away after 5 min.

I've heard that it could the lifters placed in wrong. I know you have to make sure the bleed holes are facing up or you'll get the ticking noise on the initial startup.

    331 with AFR 205's

Isn't the R302 a siamese bore? If so, what sort of problems would I run into using that instead of something else?

    331 with AFR 205's

Just curious, but what's so bad about the A4 block? I've seen numerous setups using them with good results. Nice car by the way TT91:nice:

    331 with AFR 205's

In regards about doing it right the first for the injectors, cost is a factor. I can only afford to build the motor for right now.:( I figured the A4 or the cheaper Dart block(around $1800) would be good enough since my goal is about 800rwhp. The crank I was talking about was a lightweight...

    331 with AFR 205's

I'm in the process of building a serious street/strip motor for my car. I'll be using the AFR 205 heads, with Scat forged internals in either an A4 or Dart block. I'll also be using dished pistons for the PT-88 turbo that will follow soon after it's built. The question is, what size injectors...

anyone ever switch from 3.73 to 4.10

I did this swap. Can't really say I've gotten faster afterwards. You'll also find that all the gears don't last long so get ready to shift more.

    Emission pump by-pass???

Been over 3 years since I've seen a smog pump on mine. Then again, there are no emissions to worry about here in Oklahoma. :D

    Which of these last longer?

I recently found out that the drag radials don't make a good "daily driver" tire. They didn't even last 3 months. That's why I'll stick with the M/T ET streets. They always lasted up to 6 months for me driving everyday around town. :nice:
