Speedo Gear Replacement - Gear Trashed!

I had 3.55 gears installed into my Mustang over two years ago. At some time (not sure if it was before or after) I remember my speedo bouncing a little bit. Sometimes it would even drop to zero, then jump back to normal. I've replaced my old speedo (101K) for a "new" one (59K). Both speedos...

    5.0 cooling system problems

I've never had problems getting air out of my cooling system. I just start the cold car and run it for a few minutes with the radiator cap off, topping off as needed. As for a blocked radiator; its possible; how did the old coolant look when you drained the car? I'd be more concerned about...

Time to put her back together

My '92 has without an interior since the bodywork after she was hit several years ago. I'm working towards the all-black interior but I'm looking for one piece and thought you guys could help out. I'm looking for the rear seatbelts. Latemodel Resto doesn't have the rears for a 92 and I'm not...

Doors won't open - no locks

I've got a '92 hatchback mustang with ~ 102k miles on it. Her door handles have been shaved so I have to roll my windows down to open the doors (nice alarm remote takes care of this). Door locks are not even in the equation. After she's been sitting for a while the doors are hard to open. I...

    Speedo DRIVE gear replacement

The inability to turn the speedo cable any further was probably due to the fact that the cable can only turn so far while connected to the gear and the drive gear while the car is at a stop. This tells me the speedo gear teeth are correctly meshing with the teeth on the drive gear which is...

    Speedo DRIVE gear replacement

When I connected both the old and new speedo to a drill, they showed at full throttle 60 MPH and neither of them wavered. While in the car, they usually show 0, but when they do move, thats when they jump all over the place. The cable looks good and came out with out ANY effort, but I'm a bit...

    Speedo DRIVE gear replacement

My speedo was bouncing around, and now it won't do anything. I've pulled it out and I if I hook it up to a drill, the needle is steady. I've pulled the inner speedo cable core and its in GREAT condition. The needle was bouncing before I replaced the speedo gear to match my new rear gears...

    Engine Building Classes

I've been looking for some classes on engine building near San Francisco, CA. I'm sure I could buy a book, read bits and pieces the cobble an engine together. I'm sure it would even run ... but I'd like to take a class so someone could show me how its really done, with all of the tips and...

    Dcc installed..up and running

Phase 1 So, I have a new AutoMeter mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauge. I also have my new DC controller and Mark VIII fan. Yesterday I installed the water temp gauge and my car for a little spin. I found that she heated up quickly and with out much effort I had her running @ around...

    Dcc installed..up and running

For those of you who use after-market gauges: I'm looking @ AutoMeter gauges and I'm a bit stumped. I've notice there are both electric and mechanical gauges. Which one should I consider and why? --Jonathan

    Dcc installed..up and running

... but, but, but, its so small, and seemingly useless! Mine was ripped off in a thankfully not-so-tragic, tragic morning "incident". I'll order one right away.

    Dcc installed..up and running

My car has a tendancy to heat up VERY quickly when I'm messing around. Even while driving normally she usually reaches just above the 3/4 mark on the factory gauge. I'm sure most of the problem has to do with inadequite air flow. I have a stalker front bumper which restricts air flow more...

    Dcc installed..up and running

How did you guys with Mark VIII's attach them? They're smaller than the stock 5.0 shroud. I've seen tech docs that show people attaching them TO the radiator, how do you get away with this and not do nasty things to your shiny new aluminum radiator? (which I think I'm gonna buy myself for my...

Got a 93 5.0 that will not turn up!

I had a similar problem, car started up and ran fine, until I put real load on it, then it choked. Don't forget to pull that "little grey plug" BEFORE you time your engine. If you don't you'll have things all screwed up. I don't think the computer could compensate enough for the "adjustment"...

    Sorry guys..

If you want a tire thats pretty good in ALL weather conditions, take a look @ the Michelin Pilots. I had a set of the Pilot XGTs on my Avenger (before she was stolen) and the had amazing grip on the road in all conditions. I was most impressed when I was forced to drive through a 16" snow...

    Bleed my brakes again?

I kept bleeding and bleeding and finally I found a section of one of the rears that pushed nothing but air for 3-4 pumps of the brake pedal. (And here I thought I had flushed the whole system) I guess its not a huge surprise that the brakes feel like new again! **** HINT FOR NEWBS **** If...
