Have a 65 coupe with the blue interior. It's a little too plain for me. Has anyone did a two toning with black, like black door panels, black upholstery trimmed with blue, ect? Since the dash is black with blue trim just thought it might work to carry out that theme. Whadda ya think?

    squeaky sway bar

Put a new 1 " sway bar and bushings on this spring. About a month ago started getting a terrible squeek from the front end. It's both the bushings where the rod connects to the frame. Has anyone had the same problem? I pulled em loose and sprayed em with silicon and that has fixed it , at...

    New valve covers

Replaced my black "Mustang Powered By Ford" valve covers with some aluminum, ribbed, Cal Customs that I bought over EBay. They have ribs that come down the front and back that are deeper than the "MPBF's"They give it a much more vintage look as opposed to the modern look of the previous. Anyone...

    Shortcuts for fan shroud install????

I put one on my 65 (289). All I had to do was remove the hoses and the overflow tube. I got the original style metal one. It took some time to work it in around the fan blade but quicker than taking the rad out. If you have the plastic shroud I think they are deeper so you probably will have to...

Because the ride was too stiff and the height was too high. Previous owner had put the fives on. Hey, if you want easy, buy a new Toyota.

    Removed leaf from springs

65 coupe Finally got around to it. Took one leaf out of my 5 leaf springs ( the rear end set up too much) and it dropped the back about an inch. Looks much better. While I was at it I sandblasted the drums ( previous owners had them black, then red, then black again) and the shackles...

Pertronix not coming to the rescue, need Advice please!!!!!

I have a dual point Mallory and it required a special kit from Pertronix.Had a Mustang parts dealer order it directly from Pertronix. Put it on and the car barely started and ran even worse until I set the timing. I would make sure that I had the right kit before doing anything else.

    Auto to Manual

I did the opposite on my 65. Went from a 4 speed to an auto. I just got the automatic pedals from a donor car and exchanged them. That would probably be your easiest route. Everything was basically just a swap out. Best I can remember the crossmember is the same.IMO- It's tougher to go from a...

    Pistol grip on a mustang?

Hey , if you like the pistol grip then put one on. Thats one of those things that you can always change back later if you change your mind. This is a great forum for tech advice but we all have our own opinion on what looks good. Ain't no Taliban in this country--- do your own thing! . .

Where to begin on my 64 1/2?

Just my opinion---Doing a complete restoration will cost you much more than the car will be worth BUT if you are doing it for sentimental reasons ( family car , had one like it in high school, ect) and/ or you just love working on an old car then I would say go for it. If you go out and buy a...

    5 leaf springs on a 65

I have the 5 leaf springs and they are very stiff and raise the back of the car too much. Has anyone removed the small bottom leaf? Just wondering how much it would drop the rear and soften the ride? It looks pretty simple to remove it.

It's console adding time. Stock or Humhugger?

I have the humphugger also. Really like the storage space and it blends in perfectly with the interior. However if the factory console is in good shape it probably would be worth buying it even if you just end up selling it. They are bringing premium prices on EBay.
