    Front suspension rebuild

Great info. *files it away* Pardon the off-topic, but could any of you help me out with finding a Pinto message board and/or info archives? Google only goes so far =/ Thanks

Hunting 2.3Ts in Junkyards (what to look for?)

Well, the car I'm looking at is already a 5-spd, so I'm not going to go out of my way to get a 5-spd from a different car. I suppose I was mistaken about the 5.0 T-5 though. The whole thing is going into what is apparantly a '74 Pinto/Mustang chassis. The Fox chassis didn't come into...

Hunting 2.3Ts in Junkyards (what to look for?)

Well, the two JY cars I'll be looking at are an '86 Mercury Cougar and an unknown-year Thunderbird TC (black, recessed headlights, chrome trim everywhere, etc.). The t-bird was a 5spd though, and I don't know about the Cougar yet. There was no intercooler on the t-bird, so I guess it's not...

Hunting 2.3Ts in Junkyards (what to look for?)

So, pending the forthcoming sale of my other car, I'll be hitting the local junkyards soon for a 2.3T. The one I was at last Saturday had a 5-spd turbocoupe (just in, I guess. the car was pretty clean). I know a general list of things to look for in a motor as far as problems (shaft play in...

    A4LD: A POS Tranny

    I think a Honda would be preferable to any 2.3 N/A Fox-body ;p It'd be faster, at least. /me runs from the foaming mob. P.S. I own a 2.3 N/A-powered car.

Well it still runs (but WTF?) Photos/Movies

Whelp, I took it to the inspector and here's the deal: - Looks like it's a '74 Pinto (Identified by the intake) - It passed the smog test by the numbers (close, but it passed) - Timing is supposed to be 6. It was at 31 <--- - It failed visual because apparantly most of the smog...

    Turbo Ford pisses me off...

There are plenty of free mails out there you can get that they won't have blocked. No worries.

Well it still runs (but WTF?) Photos/Movies

Well, things have definitely been rearranged in the engine compartment where wiring is concerned. I reconnected that wire and there was no noticable affect on things. *shrug* We'll see what the BAR says Monday.

Well it still runs (but WTF?) Photos/Movies

We'll find out once it's street legal :) I've located a 1986 Mercury Cougar in a 'yard about 8 miles from my house. Some friends and I are going to go have a look on Saturday.

Well it still runs (but WTF?) Photos/Movies

Well it runs fine now. Tightened a couple screws on the carb and it purrs. :) Just need to somehow wire the turn signals up (there's no stalk on the column and the opening in the side of the column where a stalk might go doesn't appear to move) and bolt the lap belts in. After that, here's...

Well it still runs (but WTF?) Photos/Movies

*shrug* Nothing happened, idle/engine-wise. Engine is fine and pretty smooth if I hold the throttle at ~1000 rpm. How do I adjust it to stay there on it's own?

    4 cyl dual exaust

ADHD is what you "get" when you don't pay attention in school, not the other way around :D My two bits: Duals look cool :) My MR2's duals look way better than the single tube sticking out from under the 'Stang. Seems a lot of work to do it that way. I'm tempted to eventually just get an...

Well it still runs (but WTF?) Photos/Movies

Well it still runs! Photos/Movies... My 2.3L N/A Mustang-based kitcar roadster still runs, and it has an appointment with the smog referees on Monday (because the DMV thinks it's an '89 when it's way older). So I went and checked fluids today (oil and trans fluid are both perfect and clean as...

    T3 turbo on a 5.0?

Yup, 5 liters is plenty for two little itty bitty T3s :)

    Swap Plans + Archive Searching

<--- n00b 's why I asked though. :) Today's search through Car-Part.com revealed an '84 Tbird with a 2.3T about 40 miles from me. If I were in northern California I'd have half a dozen of the things by now ^_^ Who's this fellow board member? I'd love to find out where he's getting his...

    Swap Plans + Archive Searching

Yes, the extreme majority of turbo upgrades for the Supra are from twins to single. The twins are more streetable (read, better for daily driving and not just for drag racing) than gigantic T-88s andt he like, from what I understand. I'm pretty sure I must have left something important off my...

    Swap Plans + Archive Searching

So I'm doing some research through the archives here on information about the 2.3 N/A and T. Mainly I've been reading up on swapping 2.3T parts to the N/A block, for a variety of reasons... But before I get into that, I read this a dreamer thread from December '03 and can't help myself from...

Our motor only weights 10lbs lighter than the 5.0??

Carbs are easy. You don't have to understand fuel/air mixture tuning on a dyno with an aftermarket ECU in order to have a good running engine. I didn't say that EFI is worse than carbs (if it was, it wouldn't have become the standard for modern engines). When tuning a small engine to its...

    Blasphemy!

I think he's right when he calls his old motor a POS. It's a carbed turbo engine... it's practically stone age so unless originality is your thing (and a 170,000 mile car like this will never really be worth anything in the collector world in our lifetimes), it'll be hard to miss it. I know...
