What's a good car cover to get?

I had the same need as you--garaged. I bought a Wolf brand that fits the car. No complaints. I like it.

    washing car with polishing compound

The dude used polishing compound, NOT rubbing compound. Rubbing compound is a lot more aggressive than polishing compound. I don't see a problem as long as others suggested--wash a second time and get the residue off.

Whats included in the 80k tune up?

Looking at the Haynes manual and depending on what you've done in the past and service intervals it looks like: drivebelt air filter fuel filter transmission fluid/lube differential lube brake fluid coolant-drain,flush,refill check other fluids (ex.-power steering) And to answer...

    Magnaflow...Catback or just mufflers???

I have the whole magnaflow catback on my '97 and it sounds good and bolted right up. You'll get better overall flow with the "system" rather than just the mufflers.

    97 cobra...factory thermostat what degree?

I believe the stock thermostat is rated for 192 degrees. I have read that some of the guys go to a 180 to get a little cooler. But don't get greedy and try for less. The computer will think the car is still warming up and change parameters for the engine affecting driveability, gas mileage...

I have couple questions about changing the struts on my 98 Cobra.

I was able to do mine but I would say it was "difficullt" because I put in new springs. I had access to air tools which made it a lot easier. But it also took a lot of time to figure out what I needed to do. I would agree that $500 seems high for just the struts. A shop should have all the...

    questions on new cobra

In regard to your temperature question---since you don't know what the service history on your car is (at least you didn't say), I'd for sure change out the thermostat and coolant. Also, unless you know they've been done, I'd do the hoses at the same time. Its a fairly easy and inexpensive...

What works good for polishing plastic?

I got some Meguiar's "Clear Plastic Cleaner, #17" that worked good on my gauge cluster plastic. :nice:

Any Problems with Armor All Protectant?

I've read all the bad reviews too. But if it was really bad stuff would they keep making it and selling harmful product? All I know is that I've used it for years on vinyl, leather, and tires without any problems that I'm aware of. That being said, now that there are more readily available...

That's it all right. Got mine at ACE Hardware for $1.25!

    18x10's or 17x10.5 Rears?

I think our cars are the same underneath---I've got a '97 Cobra. I'm running 17X10.5's with no problems ever. I believe I've read that you can actually go up to a 315/35 tire with this rim and be OK.

Aftermarket Seats. Anyone have them? How comfy?

Yep. Got RECARO Trend seats. These are great seats. Expensive but worth it. Really no comparison to stockers--they're just that much better.

Will a center console from a 03 Cobra fit my 96?

I have a "plug & chug" and it works OK but it also is close to the shifter and can be in the way in the front position. Sounds like the cupholders on the newer consoles aren't perfect either. I was wondering if the newer model console might solve the problem but sounds like it might not...

Will a center console from a 03 Cobra fit my 96?

Anybody??? I'd like to know too. I have a '97 and I'd like to switch over to a console that has the cupholders instead of the ashtray.

    1997 cobra front wheel bearing

You'll love this---there are NO replaceable bearings on the front of our cars. You have to buy the whole hub as an assembly. I don't like it either.

    Transponder key problem?

You might try to send an email to: [email protected] and tell him your problem. He's selling Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) keys for our cars over on eBay and the programming process is extremely easy. Maybe he can trouble shoot for you and let you know if its the key or not and then...

Is 120K miles too high for a 99 cobra?

Ditto to what everyone said above. Basically you need a good pre-purchase inspection (PPI). Also, if they claim "well taken care of" they should be able to produce receipts for maintenance. So, if all smells like roses then make an offer. I'd think that you'd have to be doing considerable...

Thinking of buying a '99 Cobra convert. Any drawbacks?

Just a few--- People will be mad because you have a convertible and they don't. Your hair will get blown around as you tool down the road. You might have to turn up the stereo. You will probably look a lot cooler than you thought you ever were People will want you to give them a ride. You...

Wolf Automotive car covers with Kimberly-Clark Fabrics?

I bought a Wolf cover and I believe it has the "evolution" fabric. Please note that I am only using it for indoor garage winter protection but it fits great and has a soft inner lining (sorry, don't know what name of lining is). If this one blew away I'd for sure get another one.

Would like recommendations on exhaust systems

Terry, I have a '97 Cobra convertible with Bassani X and magnaflow cat-back. I don't think its loud at all. Just like Goldilocks--not too soft, not too loud, just right.
