    POR 15 questions

POR-15 wont adhere to "clean" metal. It has to have some sort of pitting or surface rust, and with any metal you want to use POR-15 on it should be treated with a zinc phosphate product / metal ready. I've also had it flake off on me on a clean frame rail that ended up developing a surface rust...

    Full Frontal

You might want to check out a product called evaporust next time. It works under the same principle, but is available at harbor freight for $20 a gallon. Works just as well if not better and you can reuse it after every use. You could print out a 20% off coupon and save another $4 on top of...

    Max-G 66 Mustang

Looking like a pretty cool build. Is that an autotwirler? If it is, how do you like it? I've been looking for a cart myself.

Hacked up Transmission tunnel & Doors

Thanks. That door looks great, I'll give that a shot. There was no reason for the previous owner to ever install a stereo/speakers to begin with. The car doesn't have sound proofing, insulation, interior panels, carpet or a back seat. It was very seldomly driven on the street too and had...

Hacked up Transmission tunnel & Doors

Don't have the speakers, the previous owner took them out before he sold the car. It had some 6x9's in the package tray, but even with the stereo turned up, you couldn't hear anything. I'm not attached to the shifter, but I'd have to find another one that could be used with a reverse pattern...

Hacked up Transmission tunnel & Doors

I noticed this evening while removing the aftermarket B&M Megashifter the previous owner routed the cable was through the transmission tunnel brace. In the process of routing the cable, the brace had been cut through and was seperated by a 1" gap give or take in between the spot welds on top of...

    Scott Drake "quality"

I bought the hinges at the same time I bought my fiberglass hood, even without springs they seem to become distorted after opening and closing the hood a few dozen times. They're very thin and seem to have a lot of play in them.

    Hurst V-Matic 2 Shifter

Do you still have the old transmission? The shifter requires you to cut the 90 degree part out of the shifter arm and install this lever (the bottom piece). The top piece is bolted to rear of the oil pan so the cable can be routed through it and connected to the new shifter arm mechanism.

    T&L Engines F-up...

So if that came from a 60 mile engine, what did the rest of the bottom end look like?

    Header Gaskets?

I like Percy's and SCE header gaskets, I use SCE myself. I also use a combination of locking stage 8 header retainers and studs. I gave up on the regular stage 8 bolts and hooker/felpro headers after I would develop leaks after a couple track runs. I think Summit sells some generic locking...

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

This thread to me is extremely disappointing. I came back from a break and saw there was a few new pages to this thread, of course, the majority of it was a useless debate and none of which related to AJE. Sigh.. :nonono:

    will 03/04 cobra motor fit??

Search some on the forum, you do not need to cut out the shock towers, you can notch the towers and still run a stock suspension with a DOHC.

Convert Manual to power on 67 Coupe

To be honest, I went from manual to power back to manual and felt I wasted money doing it. If I was going to start all over, I would have spent the money on a power rack to begin with to get rid of the slop. But like Rusty said, I'd go with the factory setup, there is someone on ebay who sells...

    POWER DISC!!

I have no problem stopping my car, it really depends how much weight you got up front and distribution. I daily drove my car through traffic and had no problems at all stopping. It's up to your level of comfort though.

    Won't Start, Help!

Check the wire leading from your solenoid to the starter, sometimes the nut will back off and start grounding out.

    429 Thunderjet into 68 fastback

Essentialy, the castings from 68-72, C8VE, C9VE and D0VE are the same, with minor engineering differences, the largest difference is the D0VE head could have smog holes drilled in them. In 73+ is the major change, when the chamber size increased to 97+ cc's, seats are deeper, valves are shorter...

Starting it up after sitting for 5 years

It's probably a good idea to go through the car and inspect the electrical harnesses too as well before you throw a new battery on it and try to run it.
