You just mount it on top of the flange between the header tubes.

I found the problem. The shaft of the Triax below the threads was too fat. I shaved it down with a dremel and it went on fine.

So now what do I do? Is the triax threaded different than the stock handle? Do they make bullitt shift knobs that fit the triax? This is a ford part that is supposed to fit 1999-2004 shifters. I don't understand why the stock knob fits but this doesn't. Thanks for any help.

I think they started using those nice gaskets in 2003. My OEM gaskets were the thin metal kind. I used the BBK supplied gaskets. I smeared RTV on there first, and haven't had any leaks.

Agreed. Very easy to fix. I use a sanding block though instead of steel wool.

I don't recommend trimming the rubber either. Before you try putting it on, stretch the rubber out by prying up with a screwdriver, then use dish soap to help it slide on.

The Hypertech program requires 93 octane. Superchips only requires 91. The higher octane requirement of Hypertech indicates that it probably has more aggressive timing and therefore gives you more power.
