Front end Click / Pop noise

I recently replaced those. And I remember what that sound was like. It made a sound on every bump, and this sound is only when turning. Plus, I just did a visual check since you posted and it looks fine. The others that I replaced were obvious that they were broke. And it felt strange while...

Front end Click / Pop noise

Come to think of it. I believe only the outers were replaced. I only get the noise while turning, too. Not sure how to check that. I didn't see the springs move when the wheels were turning while I was under the car...at least not out of my periph  I think it might be related...

Front end Click / Pop noise

Thanks Jayded for the quick response. If I were to check the control arm bushings, how can I tell if they need replacing (besides, of course, if they're dry rotted and cracked)?

Front end Click / Pop noise

Hey guys, Working with an 87 Notch 5.0 with no suspension mods. While driving at low speeds (anywhere from 5 - 30 mph) I hear a pop kind of sound when I turn left coming from the front end. Sometimes I'll here it when I turn right, but it mostly happens on left turns. And it especially...

Strange noise in rear of car...possibly a brake problem

Geez, what cause that problem??? Yeah, I really didn't want to mess with the shims either, not to mention I don't have a machinery since I moved outta my home in Jersey... :( And yes, I was able to improve the situation a bit. We'll see the outcome later on in the future. Hopefully nothing...

Strange noise in rear of car...possibly a brake problem

Ok, well I changed the hardware (return springs & self adjusting kits) and the big noise is gone when I reverse and move forward. :nice: BUT....I notice that when I drive forward and repeatedly hit the brakes (~5 mph) I hear a VERY low clunk in the same drum (I didn't raise the rear and closely...

Strange noise in rear of car...possibly a brake problem

Well I took the drum off but didn't really see anything peculiar....I mean, one shoe was more worn than the other but not by much by any means. I think what I'll do is just replace the hardware again. Thanks for the bump :nice: I'll be posting back this weakend on the result. Thanks again :)

    Saving Gas

I know it's been a while, but I just wanna follow up on this. I did try this and ever since I've been using acetone and will NEVER stop using it. I tried a few tanks without it afterwards and my MPG decreased dramatically. Also, I took a trip to FL from Jersey with the acetone and I got...

Strange noise in rear of car...possibly a brake problem

Thanks for the reply :nice: And I think I see where you are going with this. Originally it would only make the noise from switching directions. But after I raised the rear and checked it that way I noticed (now) that it will still make the noise (though less apparent). But the noise is really...

    Got my Terminator today......whoa.

Strange noise in rear of car...possibly a brake problem

Also, the noise was loudest at the right rear drum. Which was also making a squeak sound after letting go of the brakes. I sprayed it with some White Lithium grease and it didn't go away, then tried WD-40 and it went away for a day. Anyway, this couldn't have anything to do with the axle...

Strange noise in rear of car...possibly a brake problem

Working on a 1987 LX Notch 5.0, if that makes a difference. Okay, here's the problem: 1. Put my car in reverse while holding the brake...so I'm in reverse but stopped. 2. Start to reverse and hit brakes when I want to stop, that's when I hear the loud noise which sounds like a deep...

    Saving Gas

Thanks Aaron :nice: Great info! I will DEFINITELY try this starting tonight :D I remember learning about liquid tensile strength in chemistry. Like the example in my text book where water has enough tensile strength to let a pin rest on it if placed carefully. If you add one drop of soap...

    Saving Gas

I forgot about this. And I agree, less drag on the motor is definitely key, as it takes less work to produce power...giving you more power :D Plus it does reduce SOME weight. I didn't know there were electric water pumps for stangs??? Are there any for my model? I didn't know that's what that...

    Saving Gas

I'm sure everyone knows how much gas prices are crapola so I was wondering.... I have an 87 Notchback 5.0 stang and I just put a new Jasper stock motor in it recently. My mods are: Fiberglass hood Full Bassani Exhaust (offroad) K&N Air filter I polished my upper intake (stock intake)...
