Paint and Body 1987 GT Red/Orange Stripe Tape

The orange stripe is long gone on my car. For the longest time I did not want the orange stripe either, but the factory look is growing on me again, and other than wheels, I want my '87 GT to look as stock as possible.

Paint and Body 1987 GT Red/Orange Stripe Tape

The challenge I am going to have is not knowing the Pantone color to use. I want to make sure this is a very close, if not exact replica.

Paint and Body 1987 GT Red/Orange Stripe Tape

Thanks for the Dr. Vinyl recommendation. I'll be sure to check them out! LMR and American Muscle resell the Graphic Express kits, so they weren't much help. I will figure this out one way or another!

Paint and Body 1987 GT Red/Orange Stripe Tape

About 15 years ago, I had my '87 GT repainted the same medium cabernet red color that came from the factory, and I intentionally did not replace the red/orange stripe tape that went around the entire car. I have since decided I want to add the stripe back on again, but I am having no luck...

Brakes 87 GT - Bit of an issue installing (and now removing) a '93 brake booster

For me, physically getting the booster in place was the hardest. Removing and reinstalling the nuts was a PITA, but I was never at a point where I couldn't make progress. Hopefully I will have this upgrade done this week. It's been slow going, as I don't have much time at all to work on the car.

Brakes 87 GT - Bit of an issue installing (and now removing) a '93 brake booster

Hey man, it's a 93 booster. So very glad I didn't go with a 94+ version. Then again, maybe I wouldn't be as stuck as I am now... Interesting idea on bolting up the old MC. I may try that this weekend. Prying with a crowbar has been useless to date. This thing is wedged in there!

Brakes 87 GT - Bit of an issue installing (and now removing) a '93 brake booster

So I have been trying similar ideas. The booster is being held up by the threads on the bolts. The metal must be on a low spot of the threads on a bolt. It sort of "clunked" into place as I was pushing, and now is not budging. I may try some more tomorrow, but it's really stuck in there.

Brakes 87 GT - Bit of an issue installing (and now removing) a '93 brake booster

Hi all, I am in the middle of upgrading my brake booster to a '93 Cobra version. I am doing this because I am just about done installing 94+ Cobra brakes all the way around my '87 GT. So here's the deal, I got myself into a bit of a jam, and before I do something I probably shouldn't, I want...

Brakes 1987 Drum backing plate removal

Disregard, decided to whack full force from behind and they came off.

Brakes 1987 Drum backing plate removal

Hi all, I am in the process of upgrading my rear brakes to disc brakes. Question on removal of the drums. After I get the 4 bolts off that hold the backing plate to the axle, and remove the hard line, the backing plate should just come off, yes? Mine are not coming off and before I really start...

    New Belt Tensioner Issue

Wow man, that is crazy. I'm SURE that took some work! Anyway, that Dayco pulley looks exactly like mine, and funny thing is that the Advance Auto Parts store I went to earlier has it in stock. Guess that is where I am headed. Everyone, thanks for the help! Looks like I'll be all set tomorrow.

    New Belt Tensioner Issue

So I went to Advanced Auto and Autozone and came up empty. Nobody has a ribbed tensioner pulley. I know Foxbody95 said not to move the tensioner into it's original spot, but I wonder if this is not a bad idea, given I am having trouble finding a proper pulley. Here's the belt routing diagram off...

    New Belt Tensioner Issue

So here is a better pic of the old tensioner assembly. Tensioner itself is Ford, and pulley could be aftermarket I guess: Since the tensioner itself is good, I'll head out to Advanced auto or Autozone later on today and see if they have a pulley that matches what is on this today.

    New Belt Tensioner Issue

The assembly I just pulled off looks to be the original Ford setup, so I don't think the ribbed pulley is aftermarket. Lets hope LMR isn't a pain with returns. If all I can go with is a new pulley, there is no point in keeping the entire new tensioner.
