Moved my 65 from my garage to my Father-in-law's garage. Then put his 71 Firechicken in my garage to finish his body work. 71 T/A clone with fresh 400. My little 289 doesnt stand a chance. I feel a 408 stroker comin on!

Check all the vacuum lines, any leaks will cause bad idle. Been through that many times. Pertronix can go bad, I have had one for 5 years. I would look at vacuum lines first though. Bartman

Roller, To nice for parts.

Check to see if you have bubbles in your radiator. If you have bubbles you have blown head gasket or warped head. Compression will push air into cooling system.

Your car runs then dies correct? My experience with vapor lock is it will run untill you turn it off then it won't start untill the engine cools. But hey, thats just what I battled a few years ago untill I rerouted the fuel line to keep it cooler.

You are in CA. Mild winters? That should help with no cracks. My Dad smoothed his 68 in FL. It has been done 6 or 7 years and 20,000 miles no cracks.

rbohm, I am not familiar with the scarebird mechanical brackets. Where can you get them, and what setup does it allow you to use. Sounds like something I may try on my 65 fastback. Bartman

Years before all these fancy high dollar kits, we would just do a swap from a 79 Granada. Get the spindels and proportioning valve from a junk yard, then buy new calipers and rotors at Auto Zone. They were safe and reliable for Ford. You can do it for a fraction of the price. I set one up 15...
