    Pinging ...ugh

94-98 covers are much better. the baffles are alot better in them. good the 01+ cover worked for you. it hasen't for some others though. a PCV delete running breathers on both the breather and PCV will work also but not emissions legal at all. as for mileage the returnless fuel system of...

    Pinging ...ugh

the PCV issue is well known for 99-01 cars and the fix really doesn't work well. you can do a couple of things. pcv delete. not wise for emissions. add an inline oil catch on the pcv. the best is to get a set of 98 valve covers. i have a set if you want i can sell them to you...

What do you guys think about this car?

i disagree. my stock 99 GT vert gets worse mileage than my procharged 3.73 geared 98 3.8 and can't run with the 3.8. i drive 60 miles one way to work. the GT gets at best 270 miles combined/tank. my procharged 98 at best gets 330miles/tank

    DOHC V6

wide yes they would. no wider than the DOHC mod engine but that is wide especially for FWD. still though one can imagine the better bore stroke ratio of the 3.8 essex in a DOHC. it sure would breath better than the smaller bore 4.6

    DOHC V6

that would be a step backwards. the cost of swapping in a 4.0 would be $4000+ for that money a 3.8 can have a procharger kit on it or a turbo kit on it and as for splitports 99+'s will make minimum 280rwhp 300ftlbs torque. the the OP. nothing wrong with pushrods. the 3.8 heads are really a...

    DOHC V6

ford made the 4.0L cologne OHV engine into a SOHC. why didn't they put the same efort into taking the 4.2L essex 3.8 based V6 to a DOHC setup is beyond me. a 4.2L DOHC 90 Degree V6 essex would make the same power or even alittle more than the NA 4.6L DOHC 4.6 because it breaths better with...

What fuel economy are you V6 guys getting?

you will get near 30mpg on long highway runs combined driving i would say 24mpg city driving you will get 19 my procharged 98 averages about 21 combined on my way to work about 60 miles oneway most of it is highway at about 75mph. i have gotten 26.5 with the 3.73's and procharger on a...

    Settle a Dispute

not on the stock computer. you had to have a tuner to raise the top speed limiter to do that. to the original thread starter your friend is right. a stock stang in top gear will be in the mid 3's in the rpm's and cut off at around 115mph top speed limiter and the rev limiter are 2...

ditto. 275's are just fine for 17X9's on all 4's and for those that think they require more dressing. guess again the sidewall is the same area as a 245/45/17

    1999 3.8L Ping & motor shake

99's and 00's had bad oil baffles with allow the PCV to suck up too much oil into the intake. generally an 02-04 valvecover remidies this condition but a simple oil catch in line between the PCV and the PCV port in the intake will sovle the problem. you should run seafoam through the PCV line...

    carrier bearings

i hope you are not doing this yourself as your ring and pinion depth and runout must be checked and put back in tolerance and have a good contact patch. take it to a reputable tranny shop to do any work on the rear gears. if you don't know don't mess with it or you will have just wasted...

    Bosch Plugs??

first off the spark it self does not dictate hot or cold. it is the amount of airspace between the porcelan insulator and the plug body. the more of an air gap the hotter the plug. the less of an airgap the colder the plug. it is designed prevent detonation by reducing the chance of too much...
