    K&N along with Magnaflows

2-5 hp with a K&N filter. Don't have any data on the Air Silencer for a Cobra. 20 hp and similar tq with Magnflow mufflers. Further, you will notice gains throughout the engine range. Next on the list would be 4.10 - 4.30 gears, performance chip, and underdrive pulleys.

    Exhaust Question

I would have researched performance advice before I took off the exhaust. In addition, it may be illegal to run your car that way in Houston. Also, permanent hearing loss could result from exposure to prolonged periods of open exhaust.

Checked it Monday and got 22 mpg with combined driving. I usually get 20-21 with two or three romps.

Right on! I'm sure you will be satisfied with your Magnaflow catback. I'm pretty sure that is what I want. Where did you buy it?

    Muffler Flow Rates

I've only found one article where flow tests were done on mufflers http://www.magnaflow.com/05news/magazine/05hot.htm Does anyone else have any data? I'm liking the Magnaflow and trying to find info on the FR500 (or whatever else has been researched) Thanks guys

99 Cobra- Red or Black?! Help me choose

Good for You :D Black and Red are both dynamite colors. A radar gun doesn't care what color your car is... The condition and price of the car should be the major considerations, in my opinion. I think you chose wisely! Enjoy your Cobra

    Common problems with '01 Cobras

I've got 28,000 on mine and it is a solid car. I do have the sporadic puff of blue smoke on start-ups, which is evidently, not uncommon. Everything else is great!

    Little bit of exhaust smoke(?)

Several Cobra owners have this issue, but I have yet to get a clear-cut answer as to why these motors, with low miles, puff blue smoke. There are threads that suggest a poorly designed PCV spewing oil into the manifold. Some have replaced them with breathers, and say this was a fix. I...

    3.73 or 4.10 gears

4.10's I don't think you would notice an appreciable difference with the 3.73's. Many members on this board think 4.30's are the best for our cars. However if you supercharge, I believe the recommendation is not to gear that low.

    Muffler v. catback

Thanks guys, I'll invest in the full the cat-back. I thought it would be nice to hang on to the original system, also. I'm looking into the Magnaflow system. Looking at the web-site, I don't see an H/equalizer pipe. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/cat-backs/mustang.htm I...

    Muffler v. catback

Any data out there supporting hp/tq gains of upgrading to performance mufflers only (using stock pipes), versus the gains obtained with a catback system? Thanks

    OIL: 6 or 7 quarts ?????

Many of you have the right idea. I called Ford SVT and was told 6 quarts with oil filter change. As bogus as it is, and as we've learned, an oil level in the middle of the dipstick is normal, SVT said. He also said +- 1/8-1/4 quart would not be harmful. Full evacuation is 6.8 quarts...

    Oil Question

I called Ford SVT yesterday and he said 6 quarts with oil change (this is using the short oil filter 820S). I advised him that this only put oil in the center range of my dipstick, and he said that this was normal. If it is a little low below that, he said to monitor it, or you could add...

    My 2001 Dyno today

Your hp ratings sound right on to me also. It would be interesting to see how much you got with each mod. I'll be waiting for your results. 15-20 hp gain with the programmer is a very worthwhile gain. Diablo claims up to 15 hp gain for their chip. Which do most of you prefer, chip...

    Diablo chip

I had a Diablo chip in my v6 and loved it. You might have to reset your computer to match your fuel/air mixture with the new timing adjustments. The car will adjust naturally as you drive over time or disconnect your battery for a few minutes, then re-connect good luck :nice:
