I'm in the process of doing the same build basically.. I'm just using a stock block, as it'll stay N/A.. The DSS blocks IMHO aren't worth the money, they're still stock blocks.. The 282HR is an excellent choice, and is what I plan on using also. I may even go with the 60cc Jrs. I had a pair in...
The stock rod bolt torque is NOT 24 ft/lbs..

On the mains, ARP specs are different than factory Ford specs.. 130 ft/lb if using 30w oil, 90 ft/lb using the ARP provided moly..
I ran some 302 D0OE heads on my 351w. Went 8.9 in the 1/8th before I popped a head gasket. A decent head, flow nearly the same as GT40 irons. Mine are up for sale.

They DO look like the intake has been opened up some, but I can't tell about porting from those pictures.. How much did you give? If they have the stock springs, you will definately want to upgrade those. You MIGHT be safe with them and the stock cam. Get some takeoff AFR or TFS springs...
Think how good it is in the summer with no air, especially if you live i Arizona or something.. Otherwise, it's alright.. You should have enough time to get a 347 together to replace that tired 150k engine.
A good set of heads (AFR/TFS), a nice Victor Jr. intake, a quick fuel 650 carb, and possibly a custom cam from one of the guys on here could net you 350 rwhp.. Then use the rest of your dough on suspension/drivetrain/cosmetics/driving school/whatever..

I'd be interested in it.. What is the bolt pattern on it, or what C4 are you running? Get with me at [email protected] as I don't come here much.. I would then have a stock converter for you if interested.

I've broke stock pedestal bolts on some GT40s with stock springs and that cam.. Pick up a take-off set of AFR/Trick Flow springs rated to .550 for cheap...
