    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

Interesting idea Woodsnake. I really wish I had a 302 block to work with, but I like the fact that I still have an original 289, so I'd like to ultimately work with that engine. I don't have a micrometer/bore gauge, so I really don't know how far off the bore is... if the block is even able to...

    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

Guys, I'm starting to wonder if I would need to bore the cylinders at all. What determines whether or not this needs to be done? The guy I bought my car from claimed that an engine rebuild had been done in the past - which I tend to believe with obvious signs of a rebuild, but he said that...

    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

Yep, I actually started reading that book in the store a few months ago. I was thinking of going back later today or tomorrow and picking it up to immerse myself in it. I actually have a 351W laying around, but it's kinda far off, and it's a 1974 model. I really would just like to get rid of...

    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

Wow, thanks for all the replies so far :) To "Max headroom" ;) the casting numbers on the block are: C6AE-6015-C , which I've researched to being a 1966 289, correct? I had been researching as to whether it's a Hi-po, which I do not think it is, but for some reason the connecting rods look...

    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

Well, it's hard to tell if it's the original motor...Did they stamp the car's vin on the block? I thought I read that somewhere. Anyway, this car is far from original. The data plate is missing on the door, so all I really have is the Vin #, can I tell anything from the motor like the the code...

    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

Hi guys, I've been gone around these parts for too long seems like! This type of question has probably bee asked a lot, but I guess my situation is a little unique - I don't know. Here we go: I have '66 with what I thought was a rebuilt 302 motor when I bought it. Over a year ago I decided...

FPA headers installed, video with open headers

don't want to hijack the thread, but do you guys know if a cable clutch setup will only work on t-5's? I'm under the impression it only works with t-5's but just wanna make sure. i'm having trouble with my new headers hitting my clutch equalizer bar just barely. thanks

    New Steering Wheel...now a problem

the spring may be the problem. i remember i 'thought' i had tightened the big nut on the shaft, but i apparently didnt' and it moved around alittle bit and slipped.. I retightened and everything was peachy. as for the wheel puller it was fairly easy for myself to make one. If you look at the...

    Flowtech headers

i was trying to find pics of different kinds of linkages, and the v8 65-66 one does not really look like mine. there is a square deal with a hole in it at one end of the arms....and I do not have that. other than that tho, the design is identical. I'm starting to think when they swaped the 302...

    Flowtech headers

i think i figured it out.... My car has a '68? 302 in it, should the equalizer bar be different then the '66 289 one? they are shaped different and i think the 67-70 bar would work out. i'm not really even sure if the one i have is the correct one in the first place  the previous owner of...

    Flowtech headers

ok, i'm alittle less ticked off now. I don't think I'll have any scraping issues for being too low. they look all right to me in that area. Is there some other kinda way to engage the clutch w/o this equalizer bar on a 4 speed manual transmission?

    Flowtech headers

well i just revived a dead thread :D I just ordered some Flowtech headers, 1.5" primaries and 3" collector. They are decent build quality, but I'm having some clearance issues with the clutch equalizer bar. Did anyone else with these headers have an issue? I'm wondering if the clutch equalizer...

    Steering Wheel Nut

it was easy to make a wheel puller for a stock mustang wheel.. for 64-66 anyway. with alittle aluminum and 3 bolts as for the nut it is 15/16... a 1 inch would work too tho, i used both on mine

    Newer Grant steering wheels designs

i just installed the classic one,... with mustang horn button. It was a pretty simple install i must say. not very many parts. i used the 3294 install kit as well. My horn has never worked so i can't say if the grant horn button works... the only thing i can think of about the so called 'new...

    Removing the axle shafts

i recently changed one of my axles. sounds like everyone has covered everything... Hope it goes well for you... when i removed mine it would not come out easily...so i tried the brake drum trick, but that did not work for me, then i tried the long bolts from the other sides to push on the hub...
