Dodged a bullet with my car

I was driving my car last weekend and took a wrong turn, so I did a 3-point turn. I did it pretty quickly because there were cars coming. Turns out I did it a little too quickly; as the car lurched to a stop then jumped into reverse, then back into drive, I felt something that made my stomach...

What do you do when someone makes fun of your V6?

Ask them why they are ripping on your car so much? Ask them if it makes them feel good to try to make you feel bad? If nothing else, just stay away from them. Cut off all contact with them. When they ask why, tell them you're sick of their constant bullying. In the meantime, do what the previous...

    03 Mustang Upgrades

I'd start with dual exhaust and nicer wheels. That's what I did with mine, and what a difference. It'll sound better too, with the duals in the back.

    Need some information

Mine is past 200k and still going fine. Have a shop check it over. (But not at the same place you are buying it from.) Better to spend a few bucks doing that than to have a nasty surprise down the road after your money is gone.

    3.73 gears

I think you can. I got 3.55 gears in mine, but I remember 3.73 being an option too. I went with 3.55 because I do a lot of highway driving and I didn't want to be at 3000 rpm the whole time. With the 3.55s, I'm at 2000 rpm at 65mph. I have an auto trans. I got the gears and traction lock put in...

West Coast Members of the Old School, check in!

I have not been on here in a few years, busy with grad school at Portland State. My Stang is still chugging along at over 200k. My latest mod: sequential taillights! They look awesome! Doesn't make the car go any faster, but at least when I hit the brakes, all 3 bulbs are used instead of just 2...

    Mustang durability

Mine just passed 200,000 and is still running fine. I have owned it since it had 30k, still under Ford warranty! It's all in how you maintain it.

    Mods for a 2001 V6 stang.

I have had good luck with my combination; Flowmaster dual exhaust, traction lock in the rear, cold air intake, throttle body spacer, 3.55 gears, and Diablosport tune. I have a '98 auto, but those mods really woke it up. When I am on a highway trip, I get nearly 30 mpg, even with the 3.55 gears...

    Noob

My car has 195,000 and still runs fine, so don't be afraid of the high miles. To wake up my car a little without killing the fuel economy, here's what I have done: -dual exhaust -cold air intake -throttle body spacer -3.55 gears -traction lock -diablosport predator tuner The ones that I...

    seatbelt chime

Mine did that, I tried putting paper in there, which popped the whole pin loose, so I not only had to listen to the door chime, I had to listen to the switch rolling around inside the door. I gave up and went to a shop and had them fix it properly.

    Gas Mileage

That's lower than it should be, mine has 3.55 gears and an automatic, and even with 50/50 city/highway driving, I'm getting 23-24 mpg. I'd check all the basics, like tire pressure and such, then head to a shop and have them check it out.

    Rough idle when warm

My 1998 3.8 has a problem.. when I start it cold, it's fine, no problem. Sometimes, when I have been driving for a while and it's fully warmed up, I'll park it and let it sit for about 20 minutes, like when I stop at the store. I come back, start it up, and it idles and runs very rough. The...

    3.55 or 3.73 Gears?

Update: I wussed out. I was talking with the guy at the shop, decided since I drive 50 miles per day on the highway, to go with 3.27 gears. Since I had 2.73's in there stock, this will be a mild (very mild) increase. I'm keeping the 7.5 rear end, because switching to 8.8 would have cost too...

Is it really a waste to mod?

:D It was a hole of darkness and despair.. no wait, I've just been busy. Then I decided to post a question about rear gears, so I came back. Good to be back! :nice:

    3.55 or 3.73 Gears?

At 65 mph I'm about 1700-1800 rpm's. I did some research and it looks like a stock auto 98 comes with 2.73 gears. The shop has not finished their diagnosis yet, they are not 100% sure what the problem is. I may just go ahead and say **** it, put in an 8.8 rear end with traction lock and steeper...

Is it really a waste to mod?

I think modding is one of the main reasons to have a Mustang. That being said, with the 94-98 Mustangs, there's no quick or easy way to get it up to 300hp unless you want to supercharge or turbo it. V8 engine swap is possible, but to do it correctly will probably cost more than you paid for the...

    3.55 or 3.73 Gears?

Hey it's been a while since I've been on here.. got a question. My car developed a whining noise in the rear, shop thinks it might be a bearing. And I said well as long as you're back there, now's my chance to install traction-lock and maybe bump the gears! So should I go to 3.55 or 3.73? Bear...

how fast can you get a v6???

I can see where a Suburban with a V8 would be able to take a V6 Mustang.. at least there are some vehicles that a V6 Mustang can take. On the way to work I had to educate the driver of a Honda Pilot that a black paint job and new car smell does not make him faster than a Mustang. (I think it was...

    RIP (??) RED98

Wow I never told you guys, did I? The car's fixed, back on the road.. it has a few new creaks in it now since it's been wrecked twice, but it looks good. I'll put up with the squeaks and creaks, at least until that 2011 5.0 400hp Mustang GT comes out. I'll take pictures of my car at the next car...
