Where is the IAC valve located?

Do yourself a favor before you go pullin and buyin parts, besides pullin codes as stated above. Check up under the upper intake plenum. Theres a small, (approx. 5/16 or 3/8), vacuum line under there that will crack and split and has apparently caused more than one of us, (me included), to go...

302 to a 351W, advice and suggestions please

Also, if you go carb, and replace the dizzy, remember the 351 cam is a different firing order than the HO cam - so match up your dizzy wiring with whatever cam you use. --Quote Are you sure about this? I thought the H.O. used the 351 firing order...where "base" 5.0's used the standard 302...

302 to a 351W, advice and suggestions please

I talked to a friend of mine today that has done it. He said he used a 93 cobra upper plenum on a GT-40 style 5.8 lower, (Ford Racing sells these - $$$). The 5.0 accessory drive can be used with a longer belt I'm told but you may need to modify it a bit and use a crank spacer. I read that...

302 to a 351W, advice and suggestions please

What's the 351 out of...if you're lucky it'll be a later model with the higher lifter-boss block for roller lifters. You will still be able to use your SEFI upper, if you don't mind the stock plenum, but you'll have to buy a 351 EFI lower and they're not cheap. Also 351/Fox headers, 351 dist...

1.6 or 1.72 rockers whats the difference

Before you put on a set of aftermarket rockers, (especially 1.7:1's), you better check p/v clearance, make sure your springs aren't going to bind, as well as plan on modifying or replacing your valve covers. The stud size mentioned refers to the size of the stud you will be mounting the rockers...

Distributor Pick-Up Coil...How do I get this thing out?

AAHHH..guess I should've looked at the year model you were working on before I wasted your time explaining the newer Hall Effect dist...sorry.

Distributor Pick-Up Coil...How do I get this thing out?

Yup...on Hall Effect distributors, you have to pull the shaft up through the dist to remove the pick-up. Like davmacdon said, gotta remove the gear and retainer first. The trigger wheel screws down to the plate you referred to and that "plate" is part of the shaft...is does not come off. The...

question on selling a complete EFI system?

Six hundred sounds a little steep to me, but that's probably because I know at least two guys that have complete H.O.'s, throttle body to oil pan, (minus harness and ECU), for $500. Your best bet, is to put it on Ebay with a starting bid of however much you're looking to get - say $600.00, and...

    1988 5.0 LX Black with T-Tops

I'm no authority...I just have a lot of books...and in the 'Mustang Red Book', it states that "Although the T-roof was discontinued after the 1987 model year, a few early 88's were built with it." It doesn't say how many were built with this option, however, it does say that it was a $1600.00...

    Got a few questions

    "All 83 1/2 - 93 GT's and 84 - 93 5.0 LX's came w/the 5 liter backed by a 5 speed T-5 as standard equipment. AOD was extra cost. Both configurations were advertised to produce 225 hp@4200 r's and 300 lbs @ 3200, however, the AOD version actually produced 220 hp at 4200 due to more restrictive...

Which uses more gas; High throttle at low RPM or low throttle at high RPM?

Interesting...I have an AOD and 3:27 gears and 16's at 65 miles per hour I'm doing about 2400 r's. Plus I only get about 200 miles to the tank, (fairly stock motor). Wonder what my mileage will be with the 3:73's I'm hoping to purchase soon. :spot:

    Home Porting...Watcha Think???

Quote: "The best reason I can come up with for the exhaust port bumps is to provide a flat spot for drilling the hole down the middle." That's sort of what I was thinking because these heads don't have the drilled and tapped hole over the exhaust port like the 66-68 289/302 thermactor head...

    Home Porting...Watcha Think???

I thought I had one...figured I'd match it up later. For right now I just wanted to have a go inside the ports. What purpose did that "hump" that I ground out serve anyway. While I was working on it, I was afraid that I was going to break through and find a pocket or cavity inside, but there...

    Home Porting...Watcha Think???

This is a C8OE-J head and my first ever attempt at porting them, I haven't polished anything nor have I finished the head...I was looking for opinions as to whether I'm on the right track. I removed the thermactor hump and blended everything in as well as I dare. Not sure how far I can go w/o...

    Not a 5.0, but still a Ford!

No takers huh? Oh well, I just got back from his house...I took an old 460 dist I had from my motor up there and compared them...the girl at the parts house gave him the wrong dist--TWICE. The gear on the correct one was much larger. As far as the chewed up deck in the block, well, I guess...

    Not a 5.0, but still a Ford!

Not a 5.0, but still a Ford! (460) Hey Y'all, My question isn't about a 5.0, it pertains to a 460, but I've learned that some damn good mechanics peruse these pages and took the liberty of posting it here anyhow. My dad's got an 87 F-350 w/carb'd 460. About a year ago he bought a...

How do you get the stock tb and egr off!!!!!!

WantaGT is right on...awhile back I was changing my intake and couldn't get the screws out that hold the plate on the top so I could get to the 2 long bolts inside. I rounded the heads off of every T-20 torx driver I had even while using Blaster. When all else failed, I took it for a 15-20...

    Buying new 5.0, setup recommendations??

Welcome to the forums! To start with, if you have the choice and the condition of the two cars is comparable, I would go with the standard shift. I have an AOD and have wished on more than one occasion that I had a five-speed. Second, 400 rwhp is an awesome goal, unfortunately however, it...

where am i leaking oil from?! i am so depressed

For what it's worth, I used to own a 1981 Z-28. My best friend, (who is also a member here - White 95 5.0), also owns a 400 hp '02 Z-28...we both love Stangs!!! Just goes to show that not everyone is so caught up in the brand vs. brand that they can't hang out and have a good time. P.S...
