1996 SVT Cobra engine dies after 30 secs of running

I'm trying to do some "long distance troubleshooting". I have to drive 4 hours to get to the car and there aren't many parts places there so I need to take the most probable required parts with me. The car is a 1996 SVT Cobra Symptom:Car starts and runs well for ~30 secs. Very repeatable...

    Wrecked hopes / Fond Memories

You are correct. Yep, I'm still in BodyWork land. I am just about ready to do the last cuts before trying to align the front and rear. I noted that in some early posts, there were some guys that were willing to lend a helping hand. (literally). If any of you guys that live in the area have...

    Wrecked hopes / Fond Memories

Happy Birthday to me ;) I got your e-mail and I'm sorry I didn't reply. I was pretty discouraged at the time and considering just giving up. This summer I started work on it again although I didn't get a lot done. The thumbnails are a couple of pics showing how the windshield pillers...

    94 302/5.0 OBD-II compatability question

Too bad I was afraid of that. Thanks for the excellent tech. I *kinda sorta* figured it out but it's good to get the straight scoop from guys (or gals) who know. Roy.

    94 302/5.0 OBD-II compatability question

Humm ... Thanks. I looked at some more OBD/EEC posts and checked the compatability list again. It appears that the device plugs in to the under dash connector if it has one. Since the compatability list says it works with some earlier than '96 cars, there must be an option to connect directly...

    94 302/5.0 OBD-II compatability question

Well Corner-Carvers is down and 'newbies' can't post urls at the Un-named other site so WTH, I'll post it here. I hope this is the correct forum, if not I hope some kind mod will move it to where it belongs! :) I'm mostly a "Classic" mustang guy but I have a '94 GT that came with a 302. It's...

Head experts and compression ratio guys in here please?

I see the responces saying "there's no head you can get that will raise compression", and I think they are somewhat mistaken. Whether you can afford the price is another story. You can get Edelbrock heads with chamber volumns from 47CC to 75CC. Some of the lower chamber vols. require...

Need some major help here guys :-/

Diy! Adjusting your clutch is not a big deal. You CAN do it yourself if you have two wrenches. Jack it up, put jack stands in place (do NOT crawl under without jack stands!), and crawl under and look. It should be obvious how the adjustment works. Loosen the jam nut and screw the pointy...

    Wrecked hopes / Fond Memories

Finally! An update. After much dithering about, I finally decided to remove the door jam to straighten it. It took a bit of work to cut the welds but it wasn't too bad. The hardest thing was getting the door latch pin screw out! I got it pretty straight without a lot of hassle actually...

Need some major help here guys :-/

The transmission should be filled through the fill plug located on the passenger side of the transmission. Proper fill level is achieved when oil reaches the fill plug hole when transmission is level. It's a pain to fill. Some people use a funnel with a long hose on it, others think it's...

    how to connect a diode

It's probably just fine. It's a Silicon diode and they are fairly forgiving. I checked the specs on the one you substituted, It's fine. The original is the 1000 volt model, the one you substituted is only good for 400V. LOL! You can tell whether it is good by checking the resistance with...

    good old exploding tank question..

Aside from the gas tank design, the big problem is the missing barrier between the pass. compartment and the tank. Here's a scientific paper on gas tank explosions in general. The early Mustang shows up in several places.

    Ignition problems

Maybe a silly question, but did you check the fuses? The main power in wire at the Ig Sw. HAS to have voltage unless a fuse is blown, the wire has come fried/loose, or conceivably, a fusible link has blown.

    how to connect a diode

Diodes Ok, I see the diagram. I presume you don't know one end of a diode from the other. One end of the diode has (usually) the cathode end marked with a stripe. The cathode is represented by the straight line in the above diag. When you solder the diode in place be careful...
