    Hooker Header ?

I had a set of Hookers with slip-on collectors on my 78 Mustang II many years ago. Don't remember the part number, but I do remember I was always re-welding the cracked tubes around the flanges. They were junk. Only good thing about them was they worked in my 351W swap with gentle beating &...

    3.73 Rear End

Best place to find a 3.73 locking diff with a housing that will bolt into your mustang is an 87/88 T-bird turbo coupe with an auto trans. They came with disc brakes but you don't have to use them. Your 85 Mustang axles and brakes will swap over to the t-bird housing.

    Rear End Comparison

All the housings are the same width between T-bird & Mustang, 7.5 & 8.8. The difference is all the axles.

    Gas Tank Straps

Don't cut them off. New ones are very hard to come by and very expensive from Ford. Take the time to undo the bolts.

    TC front brakes in Stang?

The spindles and calipers are the same as the 5.0 stuff. The rotors are the same except for the ABS sensor ring which you don't need anyway. 5.0 rotors fit and cost less if you ever do have to buy rotors. I did this swap on my 88 LX a few months ago. The 2.3 struts do not fit the TC/5.0 spindles...

    tranny problem

1st & 2nd are on one synchro, 3rd & 4th on another synchro, and 5th is on it's own. Sounds like you have a messed up synchro.

    T-5 swap questions

I just did a T5 swap into a 79 Stang. Used the original 4 speed crossmember and an 89 5.0 stang T5 mount. Everything bolted right into place. The mounting bosses got wider on the fox crossmembers after 81 or 82, so you can't use a late x-member on an early car.

Anyone else build scale model cars?

It only starts to soften the plastic after a few weeks. A fresh paint job comes off in an hour or less. I left a body in there once just to see and after 2 months I could feel that the plastic was more "bendy" or softer but it still washed ok and even sanded normally. The older the paint is, the...

Anyone else build scale model cars?

I keep a large coffee can full of brake fluid. When a paint job goes bad, into the brake fluid it goes, all the paint comes off, and I start over again. Works for me. I've even stripped a car I built years ago and wasn't happy with.

    2.3T 86 or 87?

The reason for the rated HP difference between the 86 and 87/88 TC is all to do with the intercooler. 86 didn't have one, so it could not run as much boost as the 87. Nothing wrong with an 86 engine. You need to find a large VAM with wire connector, some kind of boost control valve, and away you...

    2.3T 86 or 87?

86 uses a Garret T3 turbo, while the 87 uses a smaller IHI turbo. And like 351wcoupe mentioned, 86 turbo feeds right into the TB, 87 valve cover has a recess under the TB.

    Need some ideas...Fellow stangnetter's

The fix for a sqeaky hatch is to spray the rubber weatherstripping with silicone spray lube. Repeat about every 6 months. It doesn't stop the hatch from moving around, but at least you won't hear it.

    aftermarket gas gauge?

All the gauge companies make both fuel sender and dash units. Not sure if you can mix and match with your factory stuff. Normally they are used as a set.
