maybe a long shot but check to see if your plugs are correctly gapped. When i got my car they were gapped too wide and the car would fall flat on its face at 4000rpm

how come you dont want to take it to a muffler shop? Mine started to make those ANNOYING squeaks/rattles too so i took it to it to them and they charged me like 20bucks to tighten everything up. I think thats well worth it and saved myself a headache

hey man i got one from blueoval pretty cheap. It def tightened up my steering, not 100% but it was a very noticable difference. like you said especially on the highway it gets rid of that numb spot right in the middle.
