So I read this post and had to go back and remind myself of how fast my '85 stock GT felt. Car and Driver January 1985 road test of the GT (title "time to catch the 302 and we're not talking Amtrak.") lists 0-60 at 6.4 secs and 1/4 mile 14.9/91 mph. Damn it was $11,391 brand new.

Looks pretty bad, but at least the dummy's head didn't hit the windshield header, which would've been a really serious injury. I don't think the stang did too badly for an offset barrier. It DOES need rollover protection (how about a REAL rollover bar) as well.

It's apparent though that there are many people out there with fun money who are just buying old collectibles, riding market inflation craze for a few months, then cashing in. Old cars are just commodities to many non-car people. Just like a stock, you gotta pick the right one.

Let's not forget the rust factor, either. So many 60's "Rustangs" met their fates due to natural chemical reactions, leaving very few survivors to be found only outside the snow/salt belts. Mustangs with original panels are of course worth more than those with replaced panels all other things...

6 mph is likely speedometer error. Especially at those speeds.

I think that's its top speed (149). Limited by drag and power. I don't believe the Mustang has a speed limiter built into the ECM. Anyway, can't it be calculated?

Well, other than the Boss 429, I don't know of another streetable Mustang that really looked good in this color. Maybe I'll be convinced otherwise. I'm just haunted by images of the Grabber blue Mustang, Maverick and Pinto that were marketed together in 1971.
