New to Board / 85 Mustang

I think you guys may be right about it being a CFI because it appeared to be Carbed but if my memory serves me, It looked a lil different than your typical Mechanical Carb. I'll read up about a CFI to make sure. The headers are definately Tubed and there was no flat iron exhaust manifold...

New to Board / 85 Mustang

What about getting away with a port and polish job on a different Ford Head and throwing a Cam in it? If you can give me some ideas of what Cam and Ford Heads guys are typically running for a street car, that would help. I'm trying to do this on a budget so something like AFR's is what I'm kinda...

New to Board / 85 Mustang

I fixed the link btw. Amazingly I got the car for free. The car is in storage/garage right now and I've had the car for about a year and drove it 5-6 times and it's a fun car. When the last time I popped open the hood which was only once or twice.. it definately appeared "Carbed" to me but...

New to Board / 85 Mustang

Hello everyone, I'm new here and wanna say hello! I've had this V8 1985 Mustang (link in sig) and it's just sitting in the garage. I don't know anything about Mustangs so I thought I'd jump in here in hopes to get assistance in building a great Street Driven Stang. So what typical...

Transmission Fluid in Brake Master Cylinder

Sounds good, Im taking all this down and taking in consideration of all the good ideas. I like "jrichker's" idea of the garden hose so I'll keep that in mind, very creative. I have a fluid pumper that I used for my rearend awhile back so I'll use that to pump the line. M.Yount, I understand...

Transmission Fluid in Brake Master Cylinder

Thank you for the information guys. Yea, I wasnt sure about the Tranny fluid regarding the reactions to rubber components since this is the first time I came across this situation. Most of the shops I talked to reccomended the same approach by replacing everything and flushing the lines really...

Transmission Fluid in Brake Master Cylinder

Yes, it seized up all four calipers and the rotors and pads need to be replaced. I will get the rotors turned & measured to see if I can still use them, its only $5 each rotor to turn them. A shop that looked at it said the entire brake system needs to be replaced (like for example, prop valve...

What tire pressure for drag radials?

For Autocrossing you want to use a tire that can handle cornering and has good sidewall support and strength. I'm not the tire selection guru but I wouldnt use Nittos for an AutoCross tire. I corner alot in my Camaro and I use a Yokohama ES 100 and that tire works very well. I would also look at...

Transmission Fluid in Brake Master Cylinder

Hi, regardless of how it got there due to the GF letting some lamer mess around under the hood, theres transmission fluid in the Brake Master Cylinder and the brakes locked up on the freeway because of this. So, I need to know what all needs to be replaced or worked on. I already know that the...

What tire pressure for drag radials?

For Street use I stay with 30 psi front and back. Sometimes I let the back out to 28 or 25. For Drag use I would start off with 15-20psi and some guys run as low as 12psi but I would ask around since theres a wide wide range of personal preference. You pretty much have to mess with it and...

Trans makes bad squealing type noise after cruising at 75-80mph for extended periods.

I hate it when trannies start to have probs, rebuilds aint no joke. Quoted $650 to do a third rebuild or Yesterday I was able to find a rebuilt AOD for $750. If it was up to me, I would put hamsters on a running wheel chasing a carrot to make this thing get up and go.

    Do-It-Your-Self Porting Job.

I used a dremel on the iron heads on my Dodge. I smoothed out the ports and got rid of those casting blemeshes. Sanded it down to get it all smooth without ripping a layer out. I'm bout to put the heads back on, I guess I'll find out how it goes in a few weeks.... :D

Trans makes bad squealing type noise after cruising at 75-80mph for extended periods.

Interesting...I got this 85 Stang and this AOD is making noises. Been thru two rebuilds from the previous owner. Not sure what was done. At a roll theres a gear wind sound and a lil friction is felt. Nuetral the sound goes away. Goes through the shifts fine but you can here that noise while in...

    Bell Housing

Re: 1985 Mustang 5.0 with AOD Transmission Looking at ordering a new transmission, C4. I was wondering how I tell tell the difference between a small bell housing and a large bell housing on this car. Any difference in bolt pattern I should be looking for or any characteristics that would...
