Bought a new solenoid and voltage regulator.... Installed the VR, same short. Installed the solenoid... no short! and it fixed my engine run on problem too! thanks for the help... well, no replies but my own but.... I won't hold it against ya.

    Battery Drain... Solenoid?

I've been doing some searching and found this on another site... when I jump the terminals, it does turn over so on to the next test. I checked the voltage at the S terminal with the key on, and i don't get a reading at all, but I DO get a reading at the I terminal when the key is on. So...

    Battery Drain... Solenoid?

I fully charged my optima in my 67 w/ 289 a week ago. In the mean time I was working on some other issues with the car and have been starting it every once in a while. Yesterday I could hear the battery getting weaker while turning over. I then disconnected the battery and trickle charged it...

    Missing a Wire

well, I went ahead and put the diode in the wire I thought would fix it... it still runs with the key off. But the good news is I can still turn the car off with the kill switch, the one I previously wired up to the white wire coming from the 6AL. I just hope this whole thing isn't causing my...

    Missing a Wire

I actually had a kill switch hooked up to my coil before I upgraded the ignition, and now I have a switch hooked up to the white wire coming out of the 6AL as the MSD directions stated. So you have the toggle hooked up to the thick red wire or the thin one? and do you have the other end...

    Missing a Wire

Hello, I own a 67 with a 289, just recently put an MSD coil and spark box in... the 6AL. I am experiencing some engine Run on which apparently is a common problem with the 6AL. So much in fact they supply a diode with it to keep it from happening. This is where my problem starts, the...

    Voltage Regulator 1967

Bump... I found a wiring diagram online, looks like there should be 2 wires in the "A" terminal on the voltage regulator, but it shows there should be a grn&red wire going to the 1 terminal which then goes to the ignition switch. Any input at all?

    Voltage Regulator 1967

Hey guys it's been a while... years. Anyway, still have the same car, 67 coupe with a 289. I've been making some mods the past couple summers, one of which led to my current problem. Two summers ago I put on some AFR heads, ss exhaust, and an MSD ignition (distributor and 6A spark box)...

    Car running, key in hand.

I actually have a kill switch already going to my coil... I'll check out the diode thing. Thanks.

    Car running, key in hand.

Oh yeah I forgot to say... I actually did replace the starter and solenoid this summer.

    Car running, key in hand.

Hey folks... got a problem here, but first some history that may help: 1967 289 coupe Last summer I put AFR heads in the stang, along with an MSD distributor, spark box, and optima red top. A couple months later I noticed the battery was dying. I had it tested and it was fine. Then the...

    custom sub enclosure

Wow, Darkness that is very well done. I would consider doing something like that but what if you get a flat?? Dunno why I ask, I don't think there has ever been air in my spare in 9 years of owning the car!

    Mid throttle Hesitation

Adjusted the linkage to the top hole and it runs great now... Guess it was getting too much gas in the carb. Thanks! Joop

    types of performance gains

You could always stroke out the 289 also... and like Cobain said, I second the heads... on a fresh engine of course. I'm lookin into AFRs myself.

    Mid throttle Hesitation

Well it doesn't hesitate when I floor it, its when I am going around 50-60... gas only pressed down half way, when it hesitates the most. I'll try to adjust that linkage today and see what happens. But if there are any more suggestions, I'm always listening. Thanks. Joop

    Mid throttle Hesitation

No thats one thing I was unlear on, is that part of tuning the carb? I guess it's worth a shot, I'm still learning about adjusting carbs I guess, I just assumed the bottom hole pushes the plunger deeper which in turn uses up more gas... Then again I could be an idiot. Would it be worth...

    Mid throttle Hesitation

It runs great at idle, this started last fall right before I put it away but I didn't have time to fix it. I have been through 3-4 tanks already. I havn't done the timing since the engine was rebuilt 3 years ago.

    Mid throttle Hesitation

Just the linkage, i have an extra plunger too that isn't being used. The Carb is only maybe 3 years old.

    Mid throttle Hesitation

Hey there, I have found myself here as a last resort because I can't figure out the probelm with my 67. It's a 289 and the problem is that when I step on the gas, especially at half throttle, there is a hesitation and sputtering that is robbing my power, as you can imagine, it sucks...
