Manually shifting an automatic on freeway onramps....

They shift harder in higher rpm/load situations by design. The fibrous disc's inside the clutch pacs would wear out quickly if allowed to slip too much from heat more than in low speed/low load applications. Thus the reason people buy shift kits to not only have shift points raised but engage...

    Gas Tank Draining?

I've had to drop the tank to drain, using a proper fuel recover tank/pump unit, on pretty well every newer Ford van or truck I've drained at work. They've all had a coiled spring in the lower filler tube hose section to prevent thieves from syphoning. I can't say whether the mustang is the same...

    Brake Pads

If you're riding on the stock tires I wouldn't be surprised if they might be your problem. These pirelli's, at least mine, seem to get very loose, slippery as they age. Remember braking and traction is only as good as the tires footprint on the road.

Failed emissions... + bad day seeking input + Warning to JLTII owners.

I don't know why they do that with the sct unless it's just the default setting to the unit. I always look to see the option parameters before I load my tune. The idle speeds are the same way, however, too high. One of the tuners should make a sticky here listing all the sct program options and...

    1st automatic after 4 manuals-getting old

I'd buy gearing to keep cruisng rpm under 2100 or your highway mileage might drop pretty good. Mine did. I went back to stock 3.55's with manual trans. 4.10's were a blast to play with though. Just found I liked my highway cruise more.

    4.10 gear question

I had vibration before installing 4.10's around 60mph and the 4.10's moved it into the 50 mph range. The drive shaft had to be changed as it's run-out exceeded 0.010" right at the u-joint flange near the trans. I could feel the vibration in the floor board and seat. I don't know if it was caused...

    Carrier Cross Shaft?

Just reinstalled oem crossshaft in mine as it only had slight scuff/polish wear on it, no actual groove/step wear. Just remember to either replace the cross shaft lockpin or clean well and use loc-tite before reinstalling. Never had any problems with clearance as that ad suggested.

Just got back from dealer, running rough.

What you might try is to document every time your clutch sticks and include what you were doing at the time that might cause the problem. You might also include situations where a safety concern might be involved eg. intersections, on/off ramps. I think if you show your concern to them on paper...

Gear ratio - Gas milage VS Performance

I'm using 4.10's with my 5sp manual and the mileage sucks on the highway. I'll be converting back to either 3.73 or the stock 3.55's. I also find it's too much gear for the stock Pzero tires.

    4.10's and what else?

What's the differance from the 2 different modifiers. I'd phoned Ford, when I did my gear change, with the part number of 4 year old modifier I had left over from a previous gear change and they told me it was the only one made. The reason I'd asked them was because this stuff smelled so bad I...

And what would keep the window from rattling in the down position?

    Ford Accessory Exhaust Tips

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking maybe the Ford tips wouldn't fit due to the size of the oem outlets not leaving much clearance to the rear fascia.

    Ford Accessory Exhaust Tips

Did some further research on the chrome tips. Turns out they're only available for V6 cars. That ends my questions since I own a GT.

    Ford Accessory Exhaust Tips

Has anyone tried the ford chrome slip-on exhaust tips (5k238). Do they slide right back to the muffler? How are they held on? I noticed some ford trucks on the lots have chrome tips held by a clamp. Would this be the same and can the clamp be seen as on the trucks? Pics?

    Odd Electronics Problems

As you say you'll be taking it back to the dealer, I can offer only this advice. Keep a written record of all incidents to show the service writers. I noted all incidents with my shaker 1000 as well I noted that most problems occured from excessive heat in the car with windows rolled up all day...

    white smoke

Probably just moisture collected in the exhaust system burning off. After all, the by-product of the cat convertor is water and co2.

Some honest opinoins please LS1 or S197

I can only tell you my experiance test driving a 96 Z28 6spd was a very rough noisy ride. It darted all over the road probably due to the wide tires up front. I expected it to ride much better due to newer technology than a 77 TA I once owned. I will tell you it was a much better performance car...

Anyone driven their GT in the snow yet?

My GT 5spd was pretty loose on the icy streets with stock tires. I placed 4 sandbags in a tray, to keep loose sand off the carpet, in the trunk. Driveabilty is much better now using a lighter foot and 2nd gear starts at times. Haven't been in heavy snow yet to test stock tires.

    Trouble starting in cold weather.

I'm driving in -23C/-4F and have had no start/drivability problems. There is definately a raspier exhaust note and I do take it easy on the throttle till it's near operating temp though.

    San Antonio quest

I'm spending a couple of weeks in San Antonio, Tx. for christmas. Just wondering if there's any well known mustang related performance shops I should check out if I have time to search them out. Although I won't be driving my 05Gt down there maybe I can pick up a few accessories for it. Never...
