1969 Mustang coupe - good deal?

Thanks 351 Carlo. I ended up passing on the car, another guy ******ed it up so the buyer didn't have to sit on it for too long. I think for anything other than a Mustang it would have sold for under $2k. I remember looking at a Dodge Dart 225 slant six in high school in way better shape...

1969 Mustang coupe - good deal?

Thanks. Definitely no collectors value to it (already mismatched) so I am trying to evaluate it just as an older car with a V8. regular 351C 2V so nothing special has disc's so that is a plus automatic is nothing special I think other deals will come along so I'll probably pass...

1969 Mustang coupe - good deal?

I have a line on a 1969 Ford Mustang Coupe. Has a 1971-74 351C 2V engine in it, automatic, disk brakes. Floor pans have rust in usual spots but aren't too bad (still drivable). Rough paint, couple of dents, rough interior. Solid car, runs well. Decent brakes, tires, wheels, new battery...

    Floorpan replacement cost

I am figuring $750 for welder set up (the $600 Lincoln 175 does not include a gas bottle). We can say option a) full floorpan replacement option b) full floorpan plus trunk. Full floorpans run about $500 so that is where I came up with $1500 (also need cut-off tools, grinder, helmet, etc.)...

    Floorpan replacement cost

I searched but didn't find what I was looking for. What does a floorpan replacement cost if done through a bodyshop? I plan on doing it myself but wanted to see what the cost/benefit was to doing it myself. I figure cost of MIG, replacement panels and such would be around $1500 and at...

Project to play with is a big factor. My uncle has done this stuff before and I always admired that about him and want to be able to learn these skills myself.

    D. Herne, thanks for the advice. I was wondering what the stock 289 comp chamber volume was...and now I know! 54cc, man that is small. Definitely need some machine work to bring it out. What is generally accepted safe ratio for pump gas, 10:1, 10.5:1? By pump gas I mean 93 octane...

Great point, and one that I was thinking about today - getting a I6 car and going from there. Plus I can get a solid running car for under $6k as opposed to the $6k fastback which is a rustbucket. I need to search the I6 to V8 conversion. Since I already plan on doing brakes and suspension -...

A crate engine was recommended to me during lunch. Also not a bad idea considering I would probably have the shortblock built at the machine shop - I mean if they have the block, crank, con rods, pistons already there they might as well put it together so I don't have to bring everything home...

Thanks for the rear brake info. I like being able to stop! I will check out the kits. A 4 wheel brake conversion would probably be the best idea...if I am going to do the front I might as well do the whole thing. Also thanks for the crank and con rod info. If I can just put the cash into...

Thanks guys. Currently planning on just a front disc conversion, but still have a lot to learn. May entertain a rear brake conversion as well. The hope is to find a car with as good a body as possible to reduce the body shop costs. I live in TX so at least I don't have 40 years of salt...

Hey Everyone, A short background: My wife drives a 2002 V6 Mustang (5spd) and I drive a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT (5spd). Both stock and both are daily drivers. We have always wanted a classic Mustang and plan to purchase one after Christmas. Want to find a ’65-’66, V8, manual transmission...

Rear brake issue - can't get the caliper back on

Here's the update. The piston is compressed as far as it can go. The problem isn't getting it to fit over the brake pads, there is something that is pushing back. I can't determine if it is the brake pad springs are too strong (seems like a weird problem, and I can easily compress the...

Rear brake issue - can't get the caliper back on

I didn't use a C-clamp, I used a caliper retraction tool that squeezes and rotates the piston. I thought I put it in as far as I could get it to where the piston was recessed compared to the rubber seal. However, with new energy this morning I will try and compress the piston further. It...

Rear brake issue - can't get the caliper back on

Rear brake question - I searched and didn't see what I am asking... Car is a 2002 Ford Mustang Premium V6 with ABS. I did the fronts today with little fanfare. Got to the rears and it was a whole other story. The rear passenger caliper won't go back onto the caliper bracket. It seems...

No limited slip in my v6.....

Don't go with a 9-inch you won't be making the power to use all that beef and will just end up being slower. Wait around for the wrecked GT's to start showing up and grab the 8.8" off one for cheap

    SCREWED BY DEALER TODAY!!

The reason for the price descrepency is because you need to go from no shaker stereo to the shaker 1000. If you do that (by selecting GT Deluxe instead of GT Premium) the price for invoice works out. Do the math and it works out. By selecting the GT premium you start out with the Shaker...
