NPI to PI engine swap how to guide

After seeing roughly 1-2 threads per week on this topic I decided to just write a how to for it. I am writing this guide after the fact so I will take pictures of what I can, but if something doesn’t make sense to you please let me know and I will try to explain it further. Ok so you have...

First time at track with the new combo, please help

Lol I understand all that, I was hoping to run in the high 13's, I had a 2.2 60 foot so thats .3 worse then your approximation which would equal roughly 6 tenths on the big end which puts me around a 14.0-14.2ish. I'm not trying to argue with you at all I'm sure you know far more then I do on...

First time at track with the new combo, please help

Wow that calculator seems way low, is it a mistype that it says flywheel hp instead of rwhp? According to that my vert only made 200 flywheel horsepower with a stock npi egine and offroad midpipe. I tried using two other online calculators...

First time at track with the new combo, please help

Yes the car does have the PI intake, heads, and cams. I thought lack of power too seeing how low the trap speed was, but when I put the weight (3505lbs with me and 7/8 full tank) and trap speed (rounded to 96 mph) in an online calculator (i know they are FAR from perfect) it came up with 247...

First time at track with the new combo, please help

I was shifting between 5000-5500, I was launching around 2k, the tires would spin, I would pedal it then nail the throttle, I know there is more in the 60' i should be able to cut 2.0's if i get the launch down. I may add +1 timing to all the rpm ranges and try that out.

First time at track with the new combo, please help

how much timing should i add? I was hesitant of doing so due to the fact I didnt know what MPH had set it at because it was already set for 93 octane, and not many stations sell more then that. Although technically with the lower compression, would that allow me to run more timing safely? I...

First time at track with the new combo, please help

The track elevation is around 660 feet, the da for that day was 178 feet. So it doesnt look like weather was a factor. Does anyone know where I could get the car dynoed in michigan and how much it would cost? I guess I will go back wednesday and try again.

First time at track with the new combo, please help

Well I'm back from the first time at the track with my new setup. I Have a 1996 Mustang GT with a 2001 engine with forged internals setup for 9.41 compression for a blower setup down the road. The car has the 2001 engine, bbk longtube headers, offroad x-pipe, and flowmaster cat back with a SCT...

    Selling the wreck

I would guess you could sell it as a whole for around $3000-$5000 or so but you would probably make more parting it out

People with T3650's in their 96-98 Please Help

Alright, so I have a T3650 in my 96 GT and I have run into a serious problem. My problem is is that the transmission appears to be sitting to high and in turn is causing the pinion angle to be so far off that it shakes the whole car at speed and the transmission is ground on the body...

    Received my SCT Excalibrator

I dont know what you bought, but I can change injector size, t/c on/off (which I dont have because its a 96) and all of the parameters on the xcalibrator II, it just depends if the tuner yougot it from chose to let you have access to those options or not. The SF is just preloaded with tunes...

    pulling motor...

You do not need to remove the exhaust manifolds, simply ubolt the x-pipe from them and pull it out. It will easily clear everything. As far as recommending shorty headers either jba or ford racing, but there wont be monumental gains, longtubes are the way to go. The engine will also easily go...

    Swapping a 03 engine into a 96 GT

Man you people need to search, there is at least one of this exact thread every week or two. Having completed this swap recently I remember it well. You need to swap the 96's oil pan to the 03 engine, there is a sensor in the 96's pan thats not in the 03 engine's pan. You need to swap the...

    just looking for thoughts....

Sounds like one of two things to me either a valve problem, or a spun bearing can sound similar to that, do a search on here for spun bearing and you will find a few with vids to compare to. I would do a compression check first before you start jumping to any conclusions it will tell you if its...

Need advice: New carrier and axles?

If you wanted to go with a non ford carrier you could look into detroit tru-track, or auburn, it really depends on how much hp you plan on running down the road and also if price is an option. There are carriers out there that are limited slip and with a switch can be fully locked, those would...

Need advice: New carrier and axles?

For occasional 1/4 mile and mainly DD I would just go with a Ford 31 spline Trak-Loc out of an Explorer and moser 31 spline axles. Also while installing those I would have the axle tubes welded and the torque boxed welded also.

    engine swap info

Well I did a little bit more then just a PI engine swap, I installed forged internals in mine for later on down the road when I can afford to go the forced induction route, the swap itself can easily be done in a weekend, like I mentioned before its a fairly straightforward swap the only things...

    engine swap info

I completed this swap recently myself, yes you can reuse your coil packs, they will work just fine. The major things involved in this swap are as follows: You will need to use the 96's oil pan, it has a sensor that screws into it that a PI engine doesnt have. You will also need to drill and...
