    1996 Cobra...is It Real?

Hi folks, my buddy is looking at a 96 Cobra this weekend, and I'm wondering if someone can tell me from looking at the VIN if it's a real Cobra. The VIN is 1FALP46V4TF198883. Also, does anyone have a carfax account that they wouldn't mind running the VIN through?

Welp, sold the last classic Mustang I have

Very sad. But, money issues and taking care of my family come first. The only older vehicle I have is my 69 F100, and I'm trying desperately to hang on to that because it's not really worth that much, and I do need a truck from time to time. I hope in time to build a garage so I can get a...

Need help quick...car sputtering and quitting!

Update: I found that the EGR vacuum solenoid is broken. Nipple that the vacuum hose from the intake slides on is broken. I assume that there is no way the EGR could be working with this broken. Would this cause the car to run like I described? Also, unfortunately when I pulled the hose...

Need help quick...car sputtering and quitting!

I have a 1986 GT 5.0 5 speed. I have been having the surging idle problem, and I am going to go test a few things that are listed in this forum now. It has begun surging to the point that many times when I come up to a light, it will actually quit. Will start right back up, and will not do...

    Quad shocks causing vibration?

    Quad shocks causing vibration?

Yea, I thought about that too. But it only does it once in a while. I was thinking the bushings because maybe they get bound up once in a while or something causing the rear to be off a little. Unlikely, but who knows. I just need to take a day, replace those things, and check the UCA and LCA...

    Quad shocks causing vibration?

No, it's not the tires. It's been doing this vibration thing for a long time. It had two different vibrations...one like I described, and then the whole car shaking at higher speeds. The new tires fixed the whole car shaking problem because the old tires were all dry rotted, hard, and had high...

    Quad shocks causing vibration?

I put new tires on the rear of my 86 GT and I noticed the drivers side quad shock bushing is shot on both ends. I've posted before about a vibration once in a while in the back that sounds like you are running on rumble strips...happens at different times, different speeds. Would the bushing...

    Engine builder

I think there was a guy on here once before that I talked to that builds engines. He actually gave me a quote, but I don't have the PM anymore. Seems to be pretty popular on here and I think that a few have dealt with him. Anyone know who I'm talking about? I can't remember for the life of me...

HELP!! Two questions about leaking BBK Headers

Yea, if you could do that, that would be great. So you think I should just simply unbolt the H-pipe in the back and tighten up the collectors some more? I bought these headers from Ebay, and I just assumed they used the same size nut as the factory pieces. I didn't even think to check.

    Really need help here...

I figured out the problem. Stupid stupid mistake. When I tightened down the rocker arms, I did some of them in the wrong sequence, thus getting the wrong torque reading. I took the valve covers off, and two exhaust on one side, and three exhaust valves on the other side were WAY loose. Lucky...

Really need help here...BBK header collector stud nut

Only thing I've found that will work is a 12mm coarse thread. Thanks everyone.

HELP!! Two questions about leaking BBK Headers

I have an 86 GT, BBK shorty headers. I cannot get them to quit leaking at the collectors! I have the nuts tightened as tight as I can get them, and I'm afraid to go more without breaking off the stud. (By the way, I posted in another thread trying to find the right sized nut, 7/16 was too small...

Really need help here...BBK header collector stud nut

yea, you can unscrew the stud, and I'd have to remove the header. And of course it's the one on the passenger side, and I still have an air pump...lol.

Really need help here...BBK header collector stud nut

Does anyone know what size this is? I think it's metric, but I'm not sure. I finally got the car running right, and I need to fix this tonight or tomorrow. I bought the BBK shorties on ebay and they didn't have nuts. I thought they were the same size as the original headers I took off. I...

    Really need help here...

I replaced head gaskets on my 86 5.0. Screwed up and put the distributor in wrong, but I have all that fixed. I have the pointer sitting on "0" and the rotor button is pointing to the #1 spark plug wire perfectly. It's on the compression stroke...double checked that last night. The car...

Need help with BBK shorty header stud nuts

What size are the header stud nuts (to H pipe) on BBK shorties? I bought a set on Ebay and the nuts weren't there. The nuts from the original manifolds are a little too small. I bought nuts at Auto Zone (can't remember what size...takes a 3/4 wrench though), I believe 13 tpi. Seems to start on...
